Dan, son of Rheihart Wiehn and Mary Wiegand, was born on
July 31, 1889 at Petersburg, Nebraska and died on January 23, 1976. As a young man he worked as a farm hand in
Miller, South Dakota and on farms in the Elgin area. Jennie Lampman, daughter of John Lampman
and Elizabeth Hoefer, was born April 25, 1892 at Elgin and she attended
school in Raeville. Her mother died
when she was eight years old. Dan and
Jennie were married at Elgin on April 15, 1913. They lived on a farm in the Elgin area until 1940 when they
moved to a farm near Pierce, Nebraska. They returned in 1948 and lived there until Dan’s health failed and
they moved to Elgin. They were
parents of six children: Lawrence
married Leona Deitering; Janet married Russell Mitchell; Dennis served in the
Army 1964-1966, married Rose Lordemann. Leonard married Theresa Zeckmann. Henry served in the Air Force and married Gertrude Zack. John served in the armed forces and
married Dorothy Middendorf. Laurine
married Edwin E Miller. Daniel served
in the armed forces and married Delores Turner.
