Henry Vanderheiden, son of Lambert Vanderheiden and
Hendrika Sanders, was born September 15, 1973 at David City, Nebraska. His parents had arrived from Holland in
1872. Emma McLean, daughter of Will
McLean and Mary Keefe, was born in Springfield, Illinois on January 3,
1878. Her parents had come from
Ireland and Scotland before the Civil War. Will and Mary lived on a farm near Brainard, Nebraska. Henry and Emma were married on August 2,
1898 at David City and lived at Gretna, Beaver Crossing and Humphrey before
moving to Elgin in 1908. They were
the parents of 11 children. Two sons
died in infancy. William, Henrietta, Martin,
Verona, Rose, Marcellus, Claire, Lovell, Angela and Lambert. Henrietta married Charles Wright; Claire
married N E Bouchard and Angela married Herman Meis. Henry died on July 22,
1943 and Emma on June 16, 1950.
