George
B McClellan Stonebraker (1873-1917) and Addie Martha Pancoast (1865-1950)
left their Ohio roots and came to Nebraska in 1884-85 and lived on a
homestead north of Royal, Nebraska. They lived in a one room house for nine years and there Roy (1886),
Leslie (1888), Ethel (1889), and Bessie (1891) were born. Then they moved into a three room house
and added to it where Dallas (1893), Clinton (1894), Ralph (1897), and
William (1903), joined the family. In
1909 the family moved to a ranch west of Neligh. George died in 1917 and the next year, Addie moved to Neligh
where she died in 1950. Roy never
married. He worked as a farm laborer
for a long time. He lived with his
mother and sister, Bessie, until his death in December 1950. Leslie
married Pearl Morgan and they had one son, Winston. They moved to Denver in 1924. Pearl died in 1984. Ethel
married Russell Wagner and they had two daughters, Thelma and Ruth. Bessie never married. Dallas (1893-1961) married Myrtle
Kost. They farmed and ranched all
their lives. Their children: Wilfred, Elmyrna and Louella Mae. After Myrtle’s death, Dallas married Ruth
Hall. Clinton died in 1962. He partnered with Dallas in agricultural
ventures. He served as secretary of
the Antelope County Fair and was appointed County Clerk in 1956 and held the
position until his death. He married
Gertrude Kost and they had four children: Delmont, Elizabeth Barbara, Delbert and Newell. Ralph married Esther Palmer. They farmed for several years east of
Neligh and then moved to California. Their children: Dawn, Norma, Ralph, and William. Ralph Sr. died in 1962. William gave up a short farming career and
moved to Omaha where he worked for a cab company. His widow Edna died in 1961. No children.
