THOMAS
STOLP was born March 25, 1815, in Onandago County, New York. While living in Will County, Thomas was
employed in the wheelwright business. He finally bought a farm in Will county, Illinois. In 1846 he married Eliza Ann Holmes, who
was born 1833. To this union were six
children born in Will county. In the
spring of 1863 he sold out and moved to Minnesota where he stayed only the
summer, removing to Story County, Iowa where they lived three years. He next bought a farm in Webster County,
Iowa. Here his second child, Melissa
died at the age of 20 years and was buried in Storoy. In 1871, he sold out and moved to Nebraska,
arriving in Antelope county in June, 1871. Thomas finally settled on a
homestead in July 1871. Eliza passed
away on the farm on May 6, 1873. In
1875, Thomas married Jane Eberly of Madison County. She died in 1895. He
then married Ellen Suter on October 4, 1900. Thomas died at his home in Neligh on March 31, 1903. Thomas and Eliza’s children were: Ellen, married to Joe Courtwright in Iowa;
Melissa, died in Iowa; Myron, married Laura Bailey in Neligh; Catherine,
married Alonza Snider in 1872, he died November 18, 1907, she married Dr. W.
F. Conwell, September 30, 1909, no children; Phobe, married William Bailey;
and James Egar, lived in Iowa.
