Noah
Springer, son of George and Elizabeth Springer, was born in Fairfield County,
Ohio, on October 20, 1830. He came to
Antelope County, Nebraska in 1892. He
married Rebecca Eby on January 29, 1852 and they had seven children, five boys
and two girls. He served in the Civil
War, enlisting in 1862 in the 86th Illinois Volunteers. Noah died at his home in St Clair Valley
on December 23, 1901. One son, Henry
Marvin Springer was born on November 20, 1854 near Princeville, Illinois. When his father returned from the war, the
family moved to Stringtown, Illinois and resided there until the fall of 1874
when they moved to Webster County, Iowa. In September 1876 he married Martha Ellen Stoughton. They were parents of 12 children, nine
sons and three daughters. In 1893 the
family moved to a farm southeast of Oakdale where they lived until the winter
of 1917. Henry, his wife, and son Dan
and daughter, Edith, moved to Neligh, Nebraska where he lived until his death
on June 7, 1931. Henry’s sons were:
Edward, John, Harrison, Ernest, Daniel, Walter, Hobart, Leslie and Fred. His daughters: Hattie, Nellie and
Edith. Most of the sons farmed in
Antelope County for many years. Henry
Harrison Springer was born March 13, 1888, the sixth child of Henry and
Martha. He graduated from Oakdale
High School in 1907. He served in the
US Army during World War I and served in France and Germany. He married Frances Willard Hawk on
February 26, 1920. They had five
children: Raymond, Margaret, Dona,
Marian, and Morton. Raymond W
Springer was born October 20, 1920 and graduated from Oakdale High School in
1939. He enlisted in the Navy and
served six years. He was aboard the
USS Medusa at Pearl Harbor during the attack. He met Willette Bryant, a Navy nurse and they had four
children: Rebecca, Alfred, Timothy
and Glen.
