John
Henry and Elizabeth Alderson left England in 1862 for America. They landed in Quebec and then settled in
Wisconsin. John died in Argyle, Wisc. and
the family moved on to Seney, Iowa. There were nine children. Elizabeth and the five youngest children came to Nebraska and
homesteaded in 1885 north of Elgin. In 1894, George married Ruth Etta Brown from New Diggins,
Wisconsin. They had three children: Vera, Leah, and Fred. Vera married Alfred Lehmer. Leah married Chester Schuchardt. Fred
married Ruth Ensminger. Leah attended
and graduated from Elgin High, attended Wayne State and taught school. She married Chester W. Schuchardt on June
29, 1920 in Omaha. He was employed by
the railroad. They came to Elgin to
begin farming in 1922. Their children
were: William Richard and Mildred
Ruth. Chester died on July 29,
1970. Leah continued to live on the
farm.
