Alfred Lucas came to Nebraska with his parents, Thomas and Sarah Lucas from Yelvertoff, England in 1853. They moved to Neligh in 1895 where they opened a shoe and repair store. They had seven girls and two boys. Alfred was the only one of the family to stay in Antelope County. He married Nora Wilcox in 1900. Her parents were Nelson and Jane Wilcox who homesteaded in Stanton Township in 1883. They had nine children: George, Grant, Glenn, Guy, Gail, Dora, Nora, Effie and Hattie. Alfred Lucas and Nora Wilcox had nine children: Willie married Inez Smith; Floyd married Louise McKelvey; Nora married Deloss Thompson; Arthur married Ruth Kimes; Eleanor married Lloyd Kimes; Thomas married Bernice Daniel; Evelyn died at three; Verla married Vernon Hixson and Norma married Vincent Seier.
