Elmer Lindahl was born on a farm south of Tilden, Nebraska on August 21, 1903. Elmer’s father had migrated to America from Sweden in 1884. His mother was born in Chicago, Illinois, a child of Swedish immigrants. Elmer attended rural schools and then Tilden High School. He taught school in District 121, then attended Wayne State College. After that he taught in Brunswick. He received his B A degree in 1929 and attended other universities: USC, Colorado and received his MA from the University of South Dakota. He served as principal and superintendent of Brunswick schools for 10 years. He served as County Superintendent of Schools for several years. He was a teacher and principal of Neligh High School for 23 years. He retired in 1970. Elmer married Berniece Holm of Orchard in 1933. They had one daughter, Karen Lou. Berniece passed away in 1944. Elmer married Doris Binkerd of Neligh in 1945. They had two children, John and Sue.
