Friedrich was born April 24, 1846 at New Gorg, Hanover, Germany. At the age of 21, he entered the army as an alternate and recruit. He was assigned to the 4th company of the Second Hanoveriche Infantry, Regiment No 77. In May 0f 1870 he was mobilized for the war against France. He was awarded the Iron Cross for gallantry in action. He served for 14 years. He married Maria Magdalena Dorothy Elizabeth Wall on November 22, 1871. She was born on November 19, 1849 in Germany. They resided in Dellien and three of their children were born there. Fred, December 9, 1872; Edith, October 24, 1873; and Mary, September 27, 1874. Dora was born March 7, 1876 and Otto was born April 4, 1880. A child, Frida, died in infancy.
In 1885 the family migrated to America and settled at West Point, Nebraska in 1886. Friedrich filed on a homestead west of Elgin, Nebraska, where son, Frank, was born on June 6, 1887. Four years later the family moved to a farm northwest of Neligh, Nebraska. Son, Henry, was born on this farm on January 14, 1892. Friedrich moved to Neligh and was semi-retired. Maria died on December 27, 1901. Friedrich married Ellen Sutor in 1906 but later divorced. In 1909 he married Katherine Hoesly Fisher at Madison, Nebraska. She was born on December 9, 1893 in Switzerland. She had five children: Jacob, Albin, Edward, Henry and Henrietta. Friedrich died at his home in Neligh on January 11, 1927 at the 80 years. Katherine moved to Wisconsin to be near her children. Children of Friedrich are: Fred married Lulu Mae Suter, three children; married Clara Myrtle Brittell with three children; Edith married Ed Dean, three children, married Jake McDonald; Mary married Frank Hall, six sons; Frank; Henry; and Otto, married Flora Clyde, four children.
