Hiram W. Kinney (1826-1888) and Mary Burke (1830-1873) were
married and lived near Buffalo, New York. Their first son, Albert Burke Kinney was born there on January
29, 1864. When Albert was one year
old, the family moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. Son, Charles was born there on July 4, 1866. Mary died in 1873. Hiram later married Mary Mills and they had three children: Olive, Leora and Leroy. In 1880, Hiram came to Nebraska in search
of a homestead and finally settle on Clay Ridge in western Antelope
County. In 1881, he returned to Iowa
and brought the rest of his family to Nebraska. Hiram continued to farm until his death.
