George Gee, his wife, Madeline, and two daughters, Bernita
and Kathleen, moved to Oakdale, Nebraska in March 1925. They arrived before their farm was vacated
so they had to stay at the Bagley Hotel for several days. The livestock had come by rail so George
and the hired man had to milk the cows in open corrals. Their farm was located between Oakdale and
Neligh. In 1936, the Gee family moved
to Watsonville, California due to the drought and depression. Madeline died there in 1956 and Kathleen
in 1965. George came back to Tilden
where he died in 1982 Bernita married Harlan Nelson in 1935. They had four children: Karolyn, Ron, Marilyn and Cheryl. Karolyn’s husband, Carl Fisher was killed
in Vietnam. Ron married Karen
Hensen. Marilyn married Charles
Harlan. Cheryl married Douglas
Tassemeyer.
