Ira Dalton, son of John and Susan Dalton and grandson of Samuel and Frances Dalton. Samuel came to America from Aubourne, England in 1858. Their children were Mary, Ann, John, William and Rebecca. John Dalton met Susan Harriett Whitney at Oberlin, Ohio and they were married December 19, 1874 at Pittsville, Ohio. The family moved to Tabor, Iowa and were the parens of three sons, George, Henry and Ira Samuel. Henry died in 1881.
Ira was born after the family moved to Weeping Water, Nebraska. Some years later the family moved to a farm west of Royal, Nebraska.
Ira married Elsie Hamilton on December 24, 1903. Their children were: John Elmer who married Iona Osborn; married Dora Wood; Lila Dalton married Ray Pollock. Four children: Ruth, Lois, Donald and Lavern; Irene married Clarence Martin; Una Belle Dalton married Fred Walters; Paul Dalton married Frances Cleveland; James Russell Dalton born 1916, died 1917; Ira and Elsie moved their family to Neligh in 1920 and resided their until the time of their death.
