Paul Christiansen and his wife, Johanna Rethwisch, came to the Tilden vicinity from Avoca, Iowa with two other Rethwisch families, brothers and sisters of the pair.
Paul and Johanna were parents of seven children. Rudolph married Minnie Hansen; Clara married Carl May; Alfred died at age two; Elmer married Alverda Hopkins; Henrietta married Lester Wilkinson; Anita married Martin Kraft; and Ellen married Albert Reikofski. Paul was a farmer and lived on various farms around Tilden. He died in 1955 and Johanna died in 1944. Rudolph (Rudy) and Minnie moved to Tilden from Millard, Nebraska in 1919. They were parents of three children: a daughter died in infancy, Doris and Donald. Rudy farmed for several years, was a truck driver, and managed a service station. He retired in 1962 and passed away at Tilden in 1977. Doris married Douglas Carter and they have five children: Doreen married M C Jullborn; Don married Cheryl Dahms; Cathy married David Negus. Donald married Mary Ann Weekley and they have two children.
