Lynn Harold Carnes was born September 27, 1890 at Weeping Water, Cass County, Nebraska, to J. S. and Jennie Wood Carnes. He came to Antelope County with his parents when he was eight years old. He attended rural schools in Cass County and the Dutch Hollow (District 32) School in Antelope County.
On April 5, 1925, Lynn and Iva Maude Baker were maried in her parents's home east of Neligh. She was born July 4, 1906 in Oakdale to Alva Edwin Baker and Altha Eugenia Stratton. She attended grade school in Oakdale and graduated from the Neligh High School in 1924. They farmed near Neligh, the Willowdale Community, the Chambers area and worked on a ranch in the Deloit area. They moved back to the Neligh area and when Lynn's health failed they moved into Neligh in 1957. Iva worked at Brodersen's Meat Market for ten years and as cleaning lady at the Neligh Post Office for sixteen years. Lynn died March 1, 1972.
