Henry Buelt was born at Ankum, Hanover, Germany, August 12, 1859. Henry and his brother Bernard came to America as young men. The two men came west to the Roselle, Iowa area where they parted. Henry remained and Bernard went south. It was there that Henry married Elizabeth Overmoehle who as the daughter of Gerhart and Mary Loxterkamp Overmoehle. Elizabeth was born in Bersenbrueck, Germany July 25, 1862. She immigrated to America while still a child with her parents to eastern Iowa for a short time. Later the family moved to Carroll County, Iowa. In 1888, Henry Buelt and Elizabeth were married at Roselle.
They moved to Antelope County where they began to build their new home southeast of Elgin. Nine children were born: John, Gerhard, Anna married Peter Baum, Mary married Herman Starman, Theodore, Joseph, Henry, and Elizabeth married Joseph Schrage and Catherine who died in infancy. Theodore became a priest. All of Henry and Elizabeth Beult's children began their married lives on farms in Antelope County.
