William Henry Bickford, son of Edwin Bickford and Harriett Foltz, was born in Nebraska on May 26, 1888. The family lived on a farm near Oakdale where he farmed with his father.
Louise Matilda Schwarting, daughter of John and Marie Peters Schwarting, was born near Howells, Nebraska on January 31, 1893. The couple was married on March 26, 1913 near Tilden. They farmed near Clearwater for a few years then on Antelope Creek.
In 1936, they moved to
California and then on to Oregon, living there until his death on July 21,
1950. After selling the farm, Louise
lived with her daughter for the next 23 years. They were the parents of four children: Ralph, Berneiece, Dwaine and Elsie
Louise. Ralph married Vernetta
Hurley, one child, married Fern Lamb, one child; Berneiece married Arthur
Soules, two children; Dwaine married Betty Jo Pearson, three children; and Elsie
Louise married Norman Davis, three children.
