Louisa Ann Beer was the fifth child born to Anthony William Beer and Anne H. Williams on April 30, 1864 in Bellville, Illinois. The other children were: William Luther, Samuel, Lycurgus, Martha, Rufua and Annette. An infant sister, Annett, passed away shortly after birth. Her parents moved to Beetown, Wisconsin in 1866. Her mother died on July 20, 1866. Her father remarried and took Phebe Ann Ball as his wife in 1868.
The family remained in Wisconsin until 1878 when they moved to Antelope County and settled in the West Cedar valley area.
Louisa Ann married Levi Bennett
on November 21, 1880. They were
parents of four children. Levi moved
his family to Kansas in 1892. Levi
died of malaria here on March 3, 1893. Louisa Ann returned to Elgin where she became known as “Aunt Louisa”
to many. In 1947, she moved to
California where she died on April 7, 1950. Her remains were returned to Elgin and she was buried in West Cedar
Cemetery.
