Marvin Beed was born at Battle Creek, Nebraska on February 3, 1909 to Charles Beed and Dora Verplank. He attended school in Battle Creek and rural schools in the area. He moved to a farm north of Tilden in 1918. The family moved to a farm northeast of Neligh in 1929. His parents moved to Tilden but Marvin and his two sisters stayed on the farm.
Rose Schumacher was a rural teacher south
of Neligh. Marvin and Rose were
married on December 24, 1931. A son,
Loren Dale, was born in 1932; in 1933 was Ruth Elaine and in 1934 Mardell
Lois. Marvin moved to a farm of his
own in 1935 and then to another farm just north of Neligh. Darlene Carol was born in 1942. All the children eventually graduated from
Neligh High. Loren was drafted into
the U S Army in 1952. He was married
to Shirley Brand and they had three children. Ruth Elaine married Wilbert Groothuis and they had three
children. Mardell Lois was a teacher
in rural schools. She married Arlan
Koehler. They had three
children. Darlene Carol married
Charles Stuhr and they had three children.
