Robert E. Barr was born in Tilden, Nebraska, the son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles C. Barr, and like his father, spent most of his years as a practicing physician in Tilden. He was a graduate of Tilden High School and the University of Nebraska College of Medicine.
After completing medical school, he served in the army, then practiced in Meadow Grove. In 1950, he joined his brother in Tilden and they opened the Barr Clinic. He retired in 1979. He and his wife, Marge are the parents of three sons, Robert, Curt and John.
