Emil Bach was born July 2, 1878 in Alsace-Lorraine, France. He came to the United States with his family when he was two. On October 24, 1901, he married Amelia Wagner born December 30, 1883 in Germany. They lived in Illinois for five years where Cyrus (1902-1922), Florence (1904-1956) and Clarence (died in infancy) were born. Then the family moved to a farm in North Dakota where Franklin Lee was born, then to Spokane, Washington where Frances was born.
About 1912 the family returned to a farm in Cuming County, Nebraska. In 1917, Emil started selling Watkins products in Holt, Antelope and part of Knox counties. They moved to Orchard in 1918. Emil started a garage and repair shop in 1921. From 1930 to 1941, Emil operated a service station. Emil and Millie moved to Norfolk in 1941 where he operated another station.
Emil died June 12, 1953 and Millie died August 19, 1953. Florence married William Heinold on September 20 1927 and lived in Stanton County. They had one daughter, Marlene. Franklin Lee was in the marines in 1941. Frances married Lonzo Sawyer on September 24, 1930. They had three sons, Wayne served in the Army; Willis and Wilfred (twins) married while in the Air Force. Willis married Maureen Clarke and Wilfred married Joyce Gouger. Willis died August 20, 1984.
