Charles T. Anson, the second son of William George and Harriet L. Blair Anson was born at La Grande, Oregon in 1864. His father came from England and his mother from Ohio. They moved from Iowa to Oregon and back to Iowa.
Charley came to Antelope County, March 4, 1882, a year after his brother, Albert had settled in the Venus community. He bought a pre-exemption claim from Ben Wade and received his patent on June 29, 1891.
There was a beginning of which he built a ranch of 1180 acres. He married Henrietta Whitmore on March 7, 1886 who had been one of his pupils during the time that he taught school. They had two children, William S. and Octavia H. Anson.
Charley hired out to Ben Buxton as foreman on the Buxton ranch and after a year he and Ben became partners. This continued for thirty years.
The Glenn Alpine post office was in the home of William Campbell when first established in 1880. It was located at the head of one of the branches of the Verdigre. In 1896, the post office was moved to the Buxton ranch.Constituents elected C. T. Anson as postmaster. The Buxton ranch consisted of 2100 acres of good farm land where the Verdigre Creek flowed.
In March of 1897, Charles married Ervia May Strope and to this union five children were born; Charles, Hilda, Adeline, George and Charlotte. Charles and Ervia lived on the ranch for 28 years. In 1924, they moved to Orchard and tried to live an easier life.
