Andrew Alexander, his wife Clara, son, Clarence and three daughters, Grace, Hazel and Coral, followed his brother James to Antelope County in the 1880's. He purchased land two east and one and a half miles south of the present sight of Orchard and built new farm buildings there.
The Andrew Alexander family attended the United Presbyterian Church three miles west of town and continued to do so when it was moved into the village of Orchard. Sometime before 1910 they followed his older brother to Chico, California. Frank Alexander and his wife, Irene soon left Iowa and followed this brother to California.
