Garfield Township
The Orchard Evangelical United Brethren Church held its first meetings in a sod school house southeast of Orchard in 1884 and was known as the Highland Class. Ezra Mead was the first pastor. This group numbering 14 members purchased a school house south of Orchard, moved it into town and held their meetings there until 1898. This church was called the Orchard Mission. During the following years of growth the church was enlarged, Sunday School rooms were added and the chancel was completely remodeled. Many fine people have served this church. They have given their time, talents and finances.
