Fort Yates | Not in the Sioux County Burials Index |
The Standing Rock Indian Reservation makes up all of Sioux County. It is very large with Fort Yates on the shores of the Missouri River which borders Emmons county so burial information could be posted herein and/or at Emmons County NDGenWeb.
Sioux County has over 58 documented cemeteries. Most of these are family sites and very small. Our primary source came from the Barron Cemeteries of Sioux County, North Dakota, 2004 and from FindAGrave but unfortunately the exact location of the below cemeteries is not documented and not found by this writer. If anyone has information on other cemeteries in the county or the exact location of the below please send me a note at lin.ziemann48@gmail.com, and I will get them documented in this website. The unknown location cemeteries are: American Horse Family (Cannon Ball) Bailey-Brave Thunder (Fort Yates) Bede Uses Arrow Family (Cannon Ball) Brave Bull Family Brought Plenty Family Bullhead Cheauma Family (Rural Fort Yates) Claymore Family Crazy Walking Culbertson Family (might be in Corson County, South Dakota) Defender Family (near Porcupine) Dwarf Family Eagle Fasthorse (Fast Horse) (Cannon Ball) Goeres Family Good Left Family Grey Bear Family Gullickson Family Iron Bull - Martinez Family (Cannon Ball) Keepseagle Family Kelly Family (Cannon Ball) Kidder Family McLaughlin Family (Selfridge) Medicine Horse Family Pretty Bear Family Red Tomahawk Family (Cannon Ball) Silk Family Starr Tree Top Family Twinn Family Two Bears Family Ranch (Cannon Ball) Wambli Gleska Cemetery at Dunn Residence (Fort Yates) White Eagle Family Yellow Family Young Family Some burials for all the above cemeteries are recorded at Find A Grave, located here. This listing is developed from several contributors and sources. The County Coordinator is not located in Sioux and so the cemetery locations / maps noted herein have not been verified. If anyone has knowledge of more exact location data for the cemeteries or more information / transcriptions please contact the Sioux County Coordinator. Return to Home Page |
