FRANK BENNETT FISKE



GEORGE VEARL FOURTH

George had an alias surname of "Topola," used particularly in military records. This writer could find no explanation of the alias. Although there is a record of four daughters, a marriage record/spouse name could not be found. He was born on 9 June 1944 in Cannon Ball.
George was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He enlisted on 29 September 1965 and was discharged on 5 December 1967 as a Private.
Obituary from the Bismarck Tribune:
"CANNON BALL -- George V. Fourth, 53, Cannon Ball, died Nov. 8, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Veterans Memorial Building, Cannon Ball, with the Rev. Casimir Paluck officiating. Burial will be in Congregational Cemetery, Cannon Ball.
A prayer service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home, Mandan.
George was born June 8, 1944, at Cannon Ball, where he grew up and attended schools. He also attended Standing Rock College. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam and was a member of Mathew American Horse Post.
He is survived by his special friend, Thelma Shell Track; four daughters, Adella, Arvella, Georgetta and Ada, all of Cannon Ball; two sisters, Angelene Iron Road, Cannon Ball, and Henrietta Fourth, Williston; and 10 grandchildren."
George died on 8 November 1997. Burial.


EDMOND GUSTAV FECHET

Edmond was born in Michigan on 11 July 1844. In 1890 he was living/stationed at Fort Yates. Edmond made a career of the U.S. Army. He enlisted in Company A, Michigan 7th Infantry Regiment on 22 August 1861. He was promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 1 September 1862 then promoted to Full Quarter Master Sergemt on 13 October 1863. He was promoted to Full 1st Lieutenant on 1 May 1863. He mustered out on 31 July 1863 at Morrisville, Virginia but then enlisted in Company G, Michigan 10th Cavalry Regiment on 14 October 1863. He was then promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant on 30 December 1863 then to Full 1st Lieutenant on 21 December 1864. He then mustered out again on 21 Nov 1865 at Detroit, Michigan. Records indicate he was promoted to Brevet 1st Lieutenant on 02 March 1867 and then promoted to Brevet Captain on 02 Mar 1867 [sic]. He was a retired Major by 1900. He died on 15 November 1910 at Champaign, Champaign County, Illinois. Burial, Tombstone, Photo.
