Friedrich Ziemann & Mathilda Hintz ZiemannFriedrich and Mathilda (Hintz) Ziemann were married March 6, 1910, in North Dakota. In February of 1920 they came to California with their North Dakota crop, Emil, Eugenia (Genie), and Leontina (Tena). They settled in Lodi on a 15 acre grape farm six miles west of town. They had three more children (the California crop); Esther, Irene and Don. Besides taking care of his own land, Fred worked out for farmers in the area. They didn’t live too far from the rivers, so his past time was fishing, and going to ball games. He also sang in the church choir and played baritone in the band. They were charter members of Emanuel Lutheran Church. Mathilda, besides taking care of her family, worked in the canneries, and also helped pack grapes in the fields, and packing sheds. She also sang in the choir and was a charter member of the Ladies Aid in church. They enjoyed having relatives come and stay, some came in time to help harvest the grapes. They both enjoyed their grandkids, and after retiring and moving into town, they both loved to play cards and go fishing with their friends. This really was a good time in their lives. Fred passed away at the age of 82, after 60 years of marriage, and Mathilda lived to the age of 94. ~A Ziemann History, by Cindy Ziemann Highly & Peggy Renner Howell, page 241 Friedrich Ziemann, son of Christian & Julianna (Priebe) Ziemann Born: 26 Oct 1887, Krem, N.D. ~~~~~ Mathilda Hintz Ziemann, daughter of Adam & Louisa Wiege Hintz Born: 12 Mar 1893, New Leipzig, N.D.
