Emanuel & Martha ZiemannIMANUEL (EMANUEL) ZIEMANN Emanuel was born to Johann and Susanna (Lang) Ziemann on January 17, 1878, at 8 a.m. Benkendorf, Bessarbia, Russia. He was baptized the same day as was the custom in those days, because the death rate was high among babies. When his father died in 1905, he was the inheritor of the Johann Ziemann homestead and was to provide for his mother. On December 26, 1905, he married Martha Rahn, the kid sister of his brother-in-law, Ferdinand Rahn at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Hannover, North Dakota. He and Martha had 13 children. Almost a year after Martha died he married Katharina Sailer Oster on June 27, 1948. His new wife was a relative of his sister, Rosina Ziemann Oster. Emanuel died on July 10, 1958, of lung cancer in Hazen, North Dakota. He is buried next to Martha at St. Paul’s church cemetery north of Hazen. ~Source: A Ziemann History, First Edition 1992 Emanuel Ziemann b. 17 Jan 1878; d. 10 Jul 1958 Martha Rahn Ziemann b. 17 Sep 1887; d. 20 Jul 1947 Link to Emanuel & Martha's Wedding Photo page Katharina Sailer Oster (Emanuel's 2nd wife) b. 22 Jan 1885; d. 21 Jan 1967 ~Both, Emanuel & Martha, are buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Church Cemetery, north of Hazen, N.D. ~Link to casket photographs taken at the time of Martha's death in 1947 The children of Emanuel & Martha Ziemann:
