ARCIS:  This was a farm post office established May 24, 1894, with George Kuch Jr., postmaster.  It was located in NW ¼ Sec. 24-145-86, six miles NE of Hazen and named for Arcis, South Russia, hometown of many local settlers. In 1899 it moved eight miles NW to SW ¼ Sec. 10-146-87, the home of the new postmaster, William Fischer. The post office closed July 15, 1901, with mail to Expansion.
