The 29th August Isaak Reunion was held the weekend of June 28 and 29, 1997, at Center, N.D. About 250 people attended the event from many surrounding cities and states.

The weekend began with a Golf Tournament at the Square Butte Golf Course in Center with 39 people attending. Saturday night the dance was held at the Center City Hall with the Bernie Stein Band playing. Dancing was wild and crazy with macramana, bunny hopping, bird dancing, and butterflies. Lunch was served and was delicious.

Sunday morning a church service was held in Center Park under the direction of Frank Ziemann from Dickinson. He is a lay pastor under the GIFTS program from the ELCA church in North Dakota.  Thanks, Frank! The offering of $345.95 was donated to the Mercer County Historical Society in Beulah.  The Isaak choir directed by Pam Dever and accompanied by Kathy Huber added to the joyful worship service. A potluck dinner was served following the church service.

BUSINESS MEETING   (it reads in part below)

More income will be coming in after the Silent Auction is complete. Hulda Isaak and Violet Isaak  organized the event. It will be continued as it was a success.

There was a moment of silence for those who have passed since our last reunion.

NEW BUSINESS (it reads in part below)

The next reunion in the year 2000 was discussed.  Discussion was held about when we should have a reunion, every 2 or 3 years? Calvin Isaak moved we have the reunion every two years which would then be on the even numbered years. Byron Isaak seconded it. Passed. We will have the next reunion in the year 2000 and then every two years thereafter.

Oscar Sailer wrote a brief history of Richard Isaak. Valerie Sayler read it to the group. A letter written by Richard Isaak when he turned 60 years old was read by Valerie. The following people told stories about Richard: Nancy Bohrer, Calvin Isaak, Maxine Beckwith, Fred Isaak, Jim Isaak, Walter Isaak, Kathy Huber, Dorothy Bauer, and Howard Guenther. Of course, the climax song “Spindlebank” directed by Duane Guenthner with a banner of words and pictures. It was certainly hilarious and glorious. What an ending to the day!
