On 13 December 1941 Edmund married Hildegarde Kossian in Eddy County. Hildegarde was born on 12 December 1923 in Kleinsorheim, Donau-Ries, Bavaria, Germany. They had one child Faith Elizabeth born on 27 September 1942 in New Rockford. Faith died 5 February 1996 in Bellevue, King County, Washington. Hildegarde died on 3 June 1992 in Des Moines, King County, Washington.
Edmund entered the military service at Fort Snelling, Minnesota on 21 March 1942. Edmund was killed in action while serving in the 6th Armored Infantry Division during the Battle of the Bulge on 6 January 1944. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart.
