• WALES • WIGHT
I am looking for information about the
Thomas and Charlotte (nee
Hardman\Hardtman) Hewitt Family. They show
up in the 1870 census in Chamois, Osage,
Missouri. Their children were: Aunt
Mag---Margaret B. b 1856 Iowa married
William MCELROY, Aunt Lib---Mary Elizabeth
b 1857 Iowa married Marcellus WIGHT, Henry
V b 1859 died, Aunt Vic---Anna Victoria b
1862 Mo married? MERRILL, Joseph P. b 1864
Chamois never married died, Addison A b
1866 Chamois died, Aunt None---Nora R. b
1869 Chamois married Lester or Lee
JOHNSON, Aunt Sade---Sadie or Sada b 1872
Chamois married Edward WALES, Aunt Toss---
Laura Lena b 1873 Chamois married Edward
FISCHER (my grandparents), and Aunt
Nell---Nellie Ann b 1877 Chamois married
Frank LEE. I am also interested in finding
anything about Joseph MERRILL b 1889
Mo(most likely Osage County. Did he marry
and have a family? There is a Rebecca
HEWITT b 1852 Mo living with a LEWIS
family on the 1870 census next door to my
HEWITTS. How is she related to this
family? Charlotte HEWITT had ll children
but I can account for only 10. Does anyone
know who the 11th child is? It is not
Rebecca. One of my father's cousins said
there was an Aunt Bessie? He died just
recently and I didn't get a chance to ask
questions. Charlotte and Thomas HEWITT,
Ephraim HEWITT( Thomas' father) probably
Addison and Joseph P HEWITT, and Edward
FISCHER are buried in the Shobe Cemetery.
Years ago, someone from Chamois took all
the HEWITT markers out and replaced them
with one nice granite HEWITT family stone
that has no information on it. Does anyone
out there know who did this and what
relation are they to the HEWITTS? Are
there any decendants or family members of
any of these people still living close in
the area? I have so many questions that I
would like answered. Judith L Barrett

ROSIEN
• HAIN • SEIFERT • WEISSENBACH
Theodor ROSIEN and his family immigrated
in 1881 or 1882. He married Christine HAIN
16 Nov 1885. I believe this was a second
marriage. Pauline, daughter of Theodor,
was born about 1881 in Prussia. She died
in 1938 as SEIFERT. Who did she marry? In
Gasconade County in the ROSIEN cemetery a
woman and her son are buried. There is a
notation in the Gasconade County Cemetery
Survey that this is the mother and brother
of Pauline. However, Christine is buried
with Theodor and graves are in Clary
cemetery. Who was the mother of Pauline?
When did she die? Who is the little
brother of Pauline? A daughter of Theodor
and Christine, Margaret, married Gus
WEISSENBACH in 1906. They are buried at
St. Peter's Cem. in Fredericksburg. There
were other daughters who survived. A
brother, Richard, died as a baby. Are
there any ROSIEN descendants in Osage
County yet? 1913 Plat Map of Osage County
shows Gus WEISSENBACH and August
WEISSENBACH had farms in Benton Township.
Are there any descendants of these
families still in the area? I would like
to contact them if there are living
descendants.
