He was the father of Hubbard, Putnam, Jack, and Ben Adkins. He was once a candidate for the office of assessor in Miller Co MO, before he came to Maries Co where he served several terms as assessor. In his race for assessor in Miller Co, he said those who were against him accused him of stealing some hogs and if they had two more weeks before the election they would have proved it."
