Reuben Keene CEMETERY

Coon Road, Otisfield, ME-2005

From Town office, leave the driveway and turn right. Follow State Route 121 for miles. Bear LEFT onto Powhatan Road and go approximately __ miles. Turn left on to Coon Road and drive for approx.__ miles. Just BEFORE Power Pole # 16, you'll see the sign on your right hand side. The arrow points in the direction of the cemetery which is surrounded by a stone wall. the cemetery is diagonal from the sign and a slight path can be observed. Watch out for poison ivy!!! There's too much canopy for me to get a GPS reading in the cemetery

According to Spurr's History of Otisfield, p. 355, Daniel COBB died Sept 2 1834 and his wife Molly BROWN, died Dec 1 1822, They are both buried in Reuben Keene Cemetery without headstones, except common rocks. On p.356 of same book, Reuben KEEN had his house down a steep hill from the top of Scribner Hill. The Coon Road opened in 1849 now passes the place, but the buildings are now about fallen down. (mid 1940s)
