Roger Henry ARNER was b. 18 Mar 1898 in Nescopeck, PA to parents
Henry Jacob ARNER (1870-1932) and Sara or Sarah SCHAFFER or SHAFFER
(1872-1962) who were married 2 Jun 1893 in Nescopeck, PA. Roger was one
of 10 children born to this couple including, Irene Sarah Susanne; Viola
May or Mae; Roger Henry; Howard James; Hiram Williard or Willard;
Margred or Margaret Anna or Emma; Marvin Emory or Emery; Edna Doretta;
Crawford Schaffer; and Daniel Gillingham ARNER, all born between 1894
and 1913.
Roger was married twice, first to Clara Ruth
RUWEDEL or RUNEDEL (1902-1931) on 5 Apr 1923 and they had four children
including, Marion Elizabeth Clara ARNER (1924-1926); Paul Henry ARNER
(1927-2015); Harold Roger ARNER (1928-2011); and Ruth ARNER (b. 1930).
Roger then married Caroline Thelma SMITH (1907-1995) on 27 Jan 1932 in
Pennsylvania and indications are that they had 5 or 6 children together.
Roger died 3 Jun 1981 in Seaford or Bridgeville, DE and is buried in the
Bloomery Cemetery in Federalsburg, MD. His last residence according to
Social Security records was in Bridgeville, DE.
Roger’s
obituary lists his surviving family members including, his wife
Caroline; five sons, Paul ARNER of Collegedale, TN; Harold ARNER of
Greenwood, DE; John ARNER of Highland, MD; Arthur ARNER of Seattle, WA;
Ray ARNER of Takoma Park, MD; and four daughters including, Ruth
DENNISON of Ooltewah, TN; Esther ARNER and Grace ARNER both of Takoma
Park, MD; and Sarah REANEWANZ of Dover, DE; along with four brothers
including, Howard ARNER of Brooksville, FL; Hiram ARNER of Hazleton, PA;
Crawford ARNER of Nescopeck, PA; and Daniel ARNER of Berwick, PA; and
two sisters including, Irene O’NEAL of Weatherly, PA; and Edna ARNER of
Hazleton, PA.
