Public Sale - BEARD

Public Sale by decree of Washington County Equity Court

The plantation of Major John BEARD, deceased, will be sold on December 7th 
- Contains 325 acres of first-rate limestone land, greater part cleared
(cultivated and under good fencing) and the residue well timbered; located
two miles from Cavetown and five miles from Hagerstown.  
  Improvements consist of two large stone dwellings, sufficiently distant 
from each other to answer for two farm houses.  Near one of the houses is 
a stone Switzer Barn about 160 feet long, a large stable, large stone 
distillery to which is attached a large hog house and all necessary 
outhouses, and a never-failing spring of excellent water.  Attached to the 
other, which is new, is a building occupied as a store and other necessary 
outbuildings and a well with good water.  
  On another part of the farm, there is a log house and other improvements, 
two large apple orchards and a large peach orchard.  The road located for 
the turnpike from Westminster to Hagerstown passes through the premises.  
An indisputable title will be given.


Sheriff's Sale - WITMER

- On the 4th of November at Henry WITMER's Mill near Hagerstown and the 
Conococheague Creek, a tract of land containing 130 acres, will be sold 
lying on the West side of the Conococheague, adjoining the lands of Jacob 
KNODE, Jacob KERSHNER and the heirs of John WACHTELL.  
Improvements consist of a log house and stable; 70 acres are well timbered.  

- Also, tract of 105 acres of which 15 acres are well timbered, lying near 
the Western Turnpike and adjoining lands of Otho ZELLER and others.

- Also, Livestock and Wagon.  

Seized and taken to satisfy sundry fifas from Washington County Court - 
Michael HAMMOND, Michael HOUSEHOLDER, George S?AKE and Jacob 
SAGER against Henry WITMER.  - Daniel SCHNEBLY, Sheriff

Reward for Runaway - 6 Cents and a Chew of Tobacco
- Ranaway from the subscriber, living on the farm of Col. David SCHNEBLY, 
about four and an half miles from Hagers-town, on Tuesday the 5th inst., 
an apprentice to the weaving business named James BEARD, about 
5 feet high, 18 years of age, has a remarkably long head and is stoop 
shouldered.  The above reward, but no expenses, will be paid for said
