Rev. Curtis Lee Laws Meets Members of His Congregaton

Rev. Curtis Lee Laws, who has succeeded Rev. Dr. J.W.M. Williams as pastor of First Baptist Church,  gave a reception to the members of his congregation last night.  The reception was held in the church lecture room, which was  simply  but prettily decorated with  plants and colored lights.

There was nothing formal about the reception and it was given in order that Mr. Laws mght get better acquainted with the congregation than he has been  able to do as co-pastor.  Mr. Laws was assisted in receiving by Mrs. Charles M. Palmer, Mrs. James E. Gibson, Mrs. O. (Olivia) Hamill, Mrs. C.E. Thornton, and Miss Mollie Cook.  In the course of the evening nearly every member of the congregation called to welcome the pastor to  his new position.

Refreshments were served by a committee of ladies, who had arranged the details of the reception.  These were Miss Carrie Blundoc, Mrs. Alexander Hamill, Miss Cora Mapp, Miss Bessie Meackle, Miss Minnie Hamill, Mrs. Mapp, Mrs. T.E. Godwin, Miss Grace Burnett, Miss Carrie Burnett and Miss Florence Burnett.  A number of vocal and instrumental selections were given and several parlor games were played.
