Joseph and Elizabeth FISHER RIZER
seem to have remained in Allegany County for about a decade. Then they moved to

Joseph Rizer died about July 1843 and his wife six months later probably in Jan

time to be counted with the 1810 census. He had two sons and four daughters at
that time. When daughter Eliza was married in 1819, she was termed the daughter
of the late Major Phineas REED. I have found a land record, and the
administration of his will listing payment of debts, but not the will itself. I

Zack was born in Frederick County, Maryland, and spent over 35 years there. Zack

Zack had a Summer home some five miles downstream just off the Potomac River.

he and his wife are buried in Rose Hill Cemetery. He was survived by his wife, a

James THOMPSON and Mary BARNETT wed and
lived two doors down from the Clarysville Inn. They died about 1870 and 1880,
respectively. They were Catholic, but we can find no record of them at St.
Michael's in Frostburg. It's possible that in later years they may have stayed
with children anywhere from Mt. Savage to Lonaconing or elsewhere. Regardless,
we have no record of their deaths or burials. We've heard that it's possible
they may have been buried near the Clarysville Inn, and when the Old National
Pike was replaced by US40, their gravesites may have been paved over. Has anyone
heard of such an event?

and was told that a Jane, his wife's name, was not buried in his plot but that a
Mary Riley who died at age 49 in 1915 was buried there as well as her stillborn

Carl Thomas Stevens buried in 1953 and William Stevens buried in 1956 were

I know that Peter GAREY (also
seen as GEARY and GARY) married Mary RIZER 24 Aug 1810 in Allegany Co, Maryland.
Two GARY daughters are mentioned in the will of their RIZER grandmother. These
were Margaret and Elizabeth GRAY. Efforts to find this family in the Allegany
Co. deeds and census have only been confusing.
I believe I have found the
will of this Peter GAR(E)Y. He seems to have died in Aug 1870 in Allegany Co. He
has 6 children mentioned in the will so probably was married after the death of
Mary RIZER. Listed in the will are: Elizabeth b. 1816 d. 1871? Married to Daniel
ASH and then to Henry MITCHELL. Julia b. ??? married Harry C. MARKS and lived in
Somerset Co., Penn in 1870 Mary A. b.??? married John SHILLING and lived in

Joseph and Elizabeth FISHER RIZER
seem to have remained in Allegany County for about a decade. Then they moved to
Tippecanoe Co, Indiana. A decade after the move tragedy struck the family.
Joseph Rizer died about July 1843 and his wife six months later probably in Jan
