OFTEN 12 Dec 1970 Philip Leonard Often, 63, who formerly resided on Maplewood Lane here, died yesterday in Hialeah, Fla., where he had been residing. He had been in ill health for some time. Born at Eckhart, he was the son of the late Patrick and Annie (Kreitzburg) Often. While residing here he was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church and was an employee of the Cumberland Brewing Company. Mr. Often had been employed by the Regal Brewing Company in Miami. Surviving are his widow, Carrie (Wagner) Often; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Sylvester, Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; Mrs. Faye Montmollin, Hollywood, and Mrs. Joyce Hoeschen, Vienna Va.; two brothers John and Charles V. Often, both of here, and ten grandchildren. The body is at the Slades Funeral Home, Hialeah, where services will be conducted Monday. Burial will be at Hialeah.

He was born in Randolph County WV, a son of the late Charles E. & Cena (Thompson Raines. Mr Raines was a retired employee of Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. Survivors include his widow, Velma V. (Oster) Raines; one daughter, Mrs Dorthalee Wilson of Greencastle PA; three brothers, Lester, John, and Mike Raines; and one sister, Mrs Vanna Wilson- all of Baltimore Pike; and four grand children. The body is at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence where friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today and tomorrow. A service will be conducted in the funeral home with the Rev. William G. Patterson, pastor of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.

OFTEN 03 Nov 1976 ONE-CAR MISHAP KILLS LAVALE MAN A young LaVale man was pronounced dead-on-arrival today at Sacred Heart Hospital with injuries sustained in the crash of his foreign made-car at 2:16 a.m. on U.S. Route 40, just west of Woodlawn Avenue. The victim was Bradley Jay Often , 19, of 418 Georges Creek Boulevard. The young man was eastbound on Route 40 at an apparent high rate of speed according to Maryland State Police , when he lost control of his car, which traveled to the right side of the highway, struck a utility pole and continued on until turning in a private driveway. Police added the victim was traveling alone. Born here, he was the son of James L. and Lorraine (Fox) Often. He was a member of the LaVale United Methodist Church and a graduate of Allegany High School class of 1975. Besides his parents, surviving are his paternal grandmother Margaret L. Often, this city; maternal grandfathers Richard K. Fox and Philip Wenrich, both of this city; and a sister Luanne Kay Often, at home. HARDMAN 20 May 1979 Joseph Blair Hardman, 76, of RD 9 city, died yesterday morning at Memorial Hospital. Born in this city, he was the son of the late Edward and Alice (Mann) Hardman. He was a retired dairy farmer. Married twice, Mr. Hardman was preceded in death by his first wife, Mrs. Martha Jane (Blubaugh) Hardman in 1952 and is survived by his second wife Cecelia M. (Harden) Hardman. Also surviving are seven sons; Blair Junior Hardman, Kenneth Eugene Hardman, Lloyd Paul Hardman, Edward Carroll Hardman, Willis Ervin Hardman, this city; Robert Lee Hardman of Barton, MD; William Royce Hardman, of Flintstone, MD; four daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Morgan, city; Mrs. Donna Jane Cessna and Mrs. Judy Louise Cessna, both of Flintstone; and Peggy Ann Stokes, Waldorf, Md; a step-son, SFC Carl Price, Fort Knox, KY; three step-daughters, Mrs. Wilma Dudek, Meyersville, Mrs. Patricia Hartsock, Temple Hills, and Miss Evelyn Hardman, city; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Raines, Flintstone; 53 grand-children and 18 great grand-children. DENEEN xx xxx 197x Mrs Ellen Deneen, aged 70, of Cohill, near Hancock, died this morning at Allegany Hospital. The Stein funeral mortuary removed the body and it will be sent to Hancock tomorrow. Besides her husband, William Carl Deneen, she is survived by six sons: Clarence, Harry, Walter, Bernard, Raymond, and Ellwood and 3 daughters, Mrs Hamilton Moore, and Misses Emma and Anna Deneen.
