Herron and Miss Marie Cates were united in a secret marriage Oct. 11, 1928 but the fact was not made public until this week. The bride is the popular and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carney Cates of this city and numbers her friends by her acquaintances. The groom is a son of the late J.L. Herron and is one of the county's successful young business men. He and his brother, Luther G. Herron, own and operate the Highland Dairy. Gass officiating. The bride is the attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Will Deboe. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Lucas. We extend to them best wishes of happiness for the future. Twice-a-week Providence Enterprise; Thursday May 23, 1929 CLAYCOMBE-DORRIS The wedding of Miss Willetta Claycombe to Mr. James Ramsey Dorris took place at the home of the brides parents, Rev. and Mrs. J.F. Claycombe, on Monday evening May 20, at eight o'clock. The impressive ring ceremony was performed by Rev. J.F. Claycombe, father of the bride, in the presence of the immediate families of the couple. Long tapers held in brass candlesticks cast a soft light over the room which was decorated with baskets of flowers. Little Jean Carolyn Ratliff, of Princeton, niece of the bride, was ring bearer. Possessed of unusual charm and personality, the bride was lovely in a beige crepe ensemble, trechat hat and accessories to match. She is a teacher in the city schools and also a musician of talent. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. T.W. Dorris, of this city. He holds a responsible position with Sugg & Co., with whom he has been connected for several years. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left for a motor trip through Southern Indiana, after which they will make their home in Providence. Twice-a-week Providence Enterprise; Thursday May 23, 1929 FRASER-SISK Mr. Herbert Fraser of Providence and Miss Lucile Sisk of Nebo were united in marriage Friday morning. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Fraser of this city and is a popular clerk at the local post office. He is a prominent member of the American Legion and is held in high esteem by all who know him. The bride is the popular daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. Sisk of Nebo and is a favorite in the community in which she resided. The happy couple have gone to house keeping in Providence where they will make their home. Twice-a-week Providence Enterprise; Monday May 27, 1929 RICE-FORSYTHE Mr. Than Rice and Miss Leona Forsythe of this city, were united, in marriage at the home of the bride's parents Monday night at eight o'clock. The ceremony was performed by Rev. J.F. Clayton the pastor of the Presbyterian church, U.S.A. The groom, who is a son of Mrs. E.N. Rice, is one of the city's most progressive and popular young business men and is held in high esteem by all who know him. The bride is the beautiful and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R.I. Forsythe and a favorite among the younger set. Immediately after the ceremony the newly weds left for a bridal trip to Chicago and other points, after which they will return to Providence to reside. Mr. Hackney is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hackney, prominent citizens of Caldwell county, and is a splendid young man and holds a responsible position in Evansville. The bride is the beautiful and accomplished daughter of Mr.and Mrs. J.H. Fraser of this city and an industrious young lady who numbers her friends by her acquaintances. She was a teacher in the Providence city schools during the term that has just closed. The happy couple will make their home in Evansville. Twice-a-week Providence Enterprise; Thursday May 30, 1929 POLLEY-DINGLER Society of Wheaton ILL. was offered a generous thrill when pretty Miss Lynn V. Polley, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Blake Polley of 405 Lyon Ave, and Roscoe Dingler also of Wheaton, slipped away to a secret marriage and were quietly united in the ties of matrimony on Friday May 19 Rev. W.W. Aylesworth, pastor of the Methodist church, Geneva, Ill. officiating at the parsonage. The happy couple's home at present will be established at the home for the bride's parents. The bride is the popular and attractive daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blake Polley, former resident of this city. Miss Barnett Golde of West Chicago and Horace C. Ellis of Pontiac were attendants of the young people at the marriage. The groom whose home was formerly at Rockford, ILL. is an industrious and energetic young man and employed as saleman for the Gaylord Electrical Appliance Company of Wheaton.
