Miss Elizabeth Bell WADE, 88, died at 9:25 a.m. Friday at the home of a niece, Mrs. Coleman FREDERICK, on Finley avenue. She was a daughter of the late William and Louise Wade and was a member of the Green Grove Baptist Church. Survivors are nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at White Oak Church, with the Rev. G.W. BERRY of Nortonville officiating, assisted by the Rev. Iley WHITFIELD of Mortons Gap. Nephews were pallbearers, and nieces and friends were flower girls. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

John WADE, 84, formerly of Providence, died Wednesday, August 18, at his home in Detroit. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vonnie
LANE of Detroit; three sons, Henry of Romulus, Mich., Ernest of Melvindale, Mich., and Lester of Dearborn, Mich.; 26 grandchildren;
10 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Miss Bell Wade, Providence. The body was brought to Tapp Funeral Home in Providence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at White Oak Church, with the Rev. E.G. Sisk officiating. Burial was in the church

Mrs. Alice WAGGENER, 72, whose home was near Blackford, died Thursday afternoon in Cardwell's Clinic after an illness of several weeks. She had undergone an operation in an Evansville hospital three weeks earlier. Mrs. Waggener was the daughter of the late Houston BLACK of the Wheatcroft country and was the sister of the late Dr. R.H. Black of Blackford. She was married February 17, 1897 to Joseph Waggener, who died in 1949. They celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1947. Mrs. Waggener was actively engaged in church and community work all of her life. She was the oldest member of the Missionary Baptist Church at Blackford. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Verna BROWN, near Blackford; a son, V.G. Waggener, Dixon, Webster county school superintendent; five grandsons, Curtis G. Brown of Clay, Lt. Joseph Waggener of Ft. Benning, Ga., Bob Waggener of Austin, Tex., and Tom and Don Waggener of Dixon; a great-granddaughter; nephews and nieces. Mr. and Mrs. J.T. BRADEN and Mrs. and Mrs. J.O. CLARK of Dixon are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and Mrs. L.V. STONE of Henderson is a sister-in-law. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Blackford Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Wilbur COLLINS, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bob WALLACE, pastor of the Pride Church, and the Rev. Harry GIRTMAN, pastor of Black Grove Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Glen DeHAVEN, Walter DeHaven, Lilburn LOCKRIDGE, Robert H. JONES, Wick COLLINS, and Carmon COWAN. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Augusta Todd WAIDE, 62, Princeton street, died suddenly at 4 p.m. Monday at the home of Mrs. S.C. LOFTON, near Providence, where he was doing repair work. Death was attributed by Coroner J. Murray BLUE to a heart attack. He was born in Crittenden county Aug. 26, 1885, a son of Mrs. Minnie Waide and the late Edd F. Waide. He had lived in Providence for a number of years. Survivors are the wife; one daughter, Mrs. Irene DUNBAR, Providence; two sons, Clinton, of Evansville, and William Edward, Providence; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Waide, Providence; four grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Celia HILLYARD, Nebo, Mrs. Flora MARVEL, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Mrs. Edith McDOWELL, Mishawake, Ind., Mrs. Susie EAST, of Evansville, and Mrs. Amanthus LLOYD, Providence; and seven brothers, Willie and Bertie, of Providence, Goldie and Alvie, Henderson, Ewell and Richard, Evansville, and Woodie, of Shady Grove. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in White Oak church, with the Rev. Johnie ROBISON of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Lorene FREDERICK WAIDE, 36, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in the home of her father, W.R. Frederick, St. Bernard street, Providence, following several months' illness. Survivors are the father; a daughter, Rosalie; two sisters, Mrs. Adlye BRINKLEY, Earlington, and Miss Classo Frederick, at home; and one brother, W.T. Frederick, Hanson. Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, and burial will be in Lakeview cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, November 21, 1946.
Cpl. Willis E. WAIDE, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Waide, Providence, was killed last Thursday when two B-24 bombers from
Biggs Field, Tex., crashed near Roswell, N. Mex. Cpl. Waide was an engineer on one of the bombers. Nine other men were
killed and seven parachuted to safety. Cpl. Waide was graduated in February from the aerial gunnery school of Harlingen Army
Air Field, Tex., and received his aerial gunner's wings and promotion to corporal at that time, after which he spent a leave at his
home here. In a letter extending sympathy to the family, Chaplain French E. TAYLOR of Biggs Field said, "I knew Willis in a
way I would like to know all the men on the field. He came in my study for three little friendly visits which I recall very clearly.
He was always happy and ever conscious that he had a host of friends here at Biggs Field. The men who knew him loved him."
Survivors are the parents; two grandmothers, Mrs. Minnie D. Waide, Providence, and Mrs. Neal LOWRY of Dawson Springs; four
brothers, James Alex and Edwin C. Waide of Providence, Oron and Ralph Waide of Owensboro; three sisters, Mrs. Coleman
KEY and Mrs. Tom VICK, Providence, and Mrs. Dewey HATCHER, Kermit, W. Va.; nine nieces and nephews. The body,
escorted by a soldier, arrived here Tuesday and was taken to the home where funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday,
with the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Military rites were conducted by a squad from

Mrs. Ada WALKER, 53, former resident of the Poole section died at 4:30 a.m. Monday at her home in Henderson, following a brief illness. Survivors are the husband, Acrea; three sons, Woodrow, Leonard E. and Arnold Clay, of Henderson; six daughters, Mrs. Willis H. ADKINS, Mrs. Ashby BURRIS, Mrs. Daniel BANKS and Mrs. Robert COX of Henderson, Mrs. Eula JONES of Chicago and (unreadable); (unreadable) grandchildren; stepmother, Mrs. G.R. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Poole General Baptist church, with the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.

Mrs. Aurilla WALKER, 74, of Providence died at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Western State Hospital, Hopkinsville. Nephews and nieces
are the only survivors. Funeral services were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, with the
Rev. Albert KEMP, pastor of Victory Baptist church officiating. Burial was to be in Lakeview cemetery.

Cassie Olden WALKER, 70, of Wheatcroft died suddenly of a heart attack at 7:30 p.m. Thursday while visiting at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Gladys OWEN, in Princeton, Ind. He was a member of Black Grove Baptist church near Wheatcroft. Surviving are the wife, Birdie; three daughters, Mrs. Owen and Mrs. Lois HALL of Princeton, Ind., and Mrs. Lewis TRAYLOR of Wheatcroft; a son, Winfred of Wheatcroft; three brothers, Fred Walker of Henderson, Tommy and Grover Walker of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle BRIGHTMAN of Sullivan and Mrs. Gertie LAWSON of Blackford; and grandchildren. Dixie Delia WALKER, 20-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sigler Walker, died Thursday as she was being taken to an
Evansville hospital. Cause of death was given as membranous croup and pneumonia. Survivors are the parents; three sisters,
Mrs. Nellie ESTES, Evansville, Dorothy and Melissa Ann Walker; and two brothers, Clay and Dale Walker. Private funeral
services were held Friday afternoon in Tapp Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Lakeview

Robert WALKER, 67, died at the home of son, E.V. Walker, Sebree, at 4
a.m. Tuesday. Death was unexpected although he had been in ill health
for some time. Survivors are the son, one brother, Thomas Walker,
Sebree and one sister, Mrs. G.W. RAY of Rumsey. Funeral services were
conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Petersburg Baptist church,
two miles west of Sebree. Burial was in the church cemetery.

for farmers for 44 years, died Friday in his home at Sebree.
Surviving are his wife, Fannie; a son, Foy; and a sister, Mrs. Mary

Petersburg church near Sebree, with the Rev. E. P. DEACON and the Rev.

Ernest Leroy WALLACE, 55, died at 10:10 a.m. Friday in his home on Princeton street following an illness of three years. A veteran of World War I, he had been a patient in veterans' hospitals for some time until he returned here a few weeks ago. He was born Apr. 25, 1893, in Webster county, a son of the late Dr. J.B. Wallace and Mrs. Wallace. He was a member of the American Legion and Cumberland Presbyterian church. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. J.B. Wallace, Providence; two sisters, Mrs. J.C. SNOW, Providence, and Mrs. Robert H. BISHOP, Detroit, Mich.; and a brother, Forest Wallace, Covington. Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday at the home, with the Rev. J.R. KING, of Blackford, officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Mrs. J.N. WALLACE, 74, died at 3 p.m. Friday in her home on North Broadway, Providence, as the result of a heart attack.
She had been in ill health for sometime but her death came unexpectedly. Mrs. Wallace, a native of McKenzie, Tenn., came to
Providence in 1902 with her husband, the late Rev. J.N. Wallace, who was pastor of the Primitive Baptist church until his
death in June, 1931. She took an active part in the affairs of the church both during the pastorate and since the death of her
husband. Mrs. Wallace operated a millinery business in Providence for a number of years, later selling her interest to Mrs.
L.M. SOLANS, who had become her partner. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. J.F. WHITSELL, Sturgis; two sisters, Mrs.
J.H. CULLEN, Providence, and Mrs. R.N. HARRISON, Langley; a grandson, and a great-grandson. Funeral services were held at
2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Primitive Baptist church, with the Rev. J.D. SHAIN of Madisonville and the Rev. G.T. HEARON
of Clay, officiating. Pallbearers were K.N. JENNINGS, Clem SISK, W.L. HOOE, L.A. TRAYLOR, Fred GARDNER, and

John Thomas WALLACE, 74, died early Tuesday morning at his home in Lisman after having been ill for only a few minutes. Survivors are the wife, Jennie; two daughters, Mrs. Seldon FARTHING of Sturgis and Mrs. J.L. BRYANT of Evansville; a son, James H. Wallace, Providence; two brothers, S.R. Wallace of the Hopewell section and Carter Wallace of Cleveland, Ohio; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Lisman, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in Lisman cemetery.

Mrs. Josie WALLACE, 62, wife of Thomas H. Wallace, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday at her home on Maple Street in Providence. Mrs. Wallace, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe CASTILE, was born in Warren County. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church near Wheatcroft. Survivors besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Clinton LAMB of Clay; a son, Henry Alvis HOPPER, Providence; two sisters, Mrs. Maggie CONARD and Mrs. Eliza HALE of Clay; one brother, Newt Castile of Junction City IL; and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the General Baptist Church in Clay, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clay. Mrs. Nancy Price WALLACE, 81, died at noon Monday at her home on
Stewart street as the result of a heart attack which she suffered
Friday night. Mrs. Wallace was a daughter of Richen and Jane NICHOLS
Price, pioneer residents of Webster county, and was born on March 17,
1860, at the family home which in recent years was occupied by the
family of the late J.F. FREEMAN. She was married on Jan. 1, 1880 to
James A. Wallace, who later served as sheriff of the county. Mr.
Wallace's death occurred in 1930. For more than forty years Mrs.
Wallace had lived in Providence. She had been a member of the
Presbyterian church since early girlhood, first in the Lisman church,
and in the local church after she came here to live. Although her
eyesight had become impaired in recent years, Mrs. Wallace was very
active. She had a splendid memory, and her mind was very clear. Her
entertaining conversation made her a favorite with a large number of
friends and she delighted in being with people and reminiscing about
earlier events. She was interested in her church and took part in all
activities as long as her health permitted. Survivors are a daughter,
Miss Anne Wallace, who lived with her mother; two sisters, Mrs. F. P.
RICE of Louisville, and Miss Grace Price of Washington, D.C.; and a
brother, R.L. Price, Providence. A son, Thomas H. Wallace, died in
1926. Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian church at 2
p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating.
Pallbearers were J.C. SUGG, A.L. DONAN, W.D. BARROWS, T.M. HILL, C.J.
MIEDREICH, and Marion SIMPSON. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

R.H. WALLACE, 75, died at 10:20 a.m. Monday at Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville where he had been a patient for a week. He was a retired farmer of the Diamond section and had come to Providence recently to make his home with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Wallace. He was a son of the late John and Susan HILL Wallace and was a member of White Oak General Baptist Church. His wife, Lottie VAUGHN Wallace, died eighteen months ago. Surviving are two sons, L.D. of Providence and Theodore of Leitchfield; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Wilson, Providence Route 1; and a brother, Charles Wallace, Sebree. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at White Oak Church, with the pastor, the Rev. Leland PATTERSON, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Sam Ray WALLACE, 77, died at 10:15 p.m. Sunday at his home in the Clay country following a lingering illness. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Lela Wallace; three sons, Carl of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; Everett and Tommy Wallace, near Clay; two daughters, Mrs. Marlin NALL of Detroit and Mrs. Dorothy TORRANTS of Evansville; ten grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one brother, Carter Wallace of Cleveland, Ohio. He was a brother of J.T. Wallace who died last week at Lisman. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hopewell Baptist church, of which he was a member, with a former pastor, the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon, officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Raymond HAZEL, and Elder Gordon T. HEARON. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery at Clay. Mrs. Maude WALLS, 73, of Slaughters, died Saturday morning in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Ben HAWKINS, Slaughters; a son Archie Walls, Henderson; two sisters, Mrs. James DICKERSON of Henderson and Mrs. Jack HAROLD of Oklahoma; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Slaughters Baptist Church with the Rev. L. F. PIERCEY, assisted by the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD and the Rev. LANE. Burial was in Slaughters Cemetery. Willie T. WALLS, 78, retired Slaughters section farmer, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ben HAWKINS, Slaughters, following several months of illness. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Maude Wells [sic]; the daughter; a son, Archie Walls, Henderson; a sister, Mrs. B.D. NORMAN, North Carolina; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Slaughters Baptist church. Burial was in the Slaughters cemetery.

Mrs. Goldie May WANLESS, 46, died at 1:45 p.m. Friday at her home in Providence following a long illness. She was a member of Pleasant Valley church. Survivors are the husband, John William Wanless; a daughter, Mrs. Athel Virginia SNELLEN, Evansville; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ron G. GIVENS, near Providence; and brother, Thomas B. Givens, Providence. Funeral services were held at Lakeview cemetery at 2 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating, followed by burial there.
