John V. BLACK, 53, was found dead at his home near Wheatcroft about 9 a.m. Friday by his brother, Bill Black. Surviving are the brother; three sisters, Mrs. Lucy SULLIVAN and Mrs. Pearlie SPRINGER, of Clay, and Mrs. Ed RICH, Providence. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Black Grove church near Wheatcroft, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Diamond officiating. Burial was in Black Grove cemetery.

Dr. Robert Henry BLACK, 82, for many years a practicing physician in Blackford, died at his home here Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
following an illness of pneumonia. Survivors are one son, Thomas Black, business manager of Lockyear's Business College
in Evansville; one sister, Mrs. Joe WAGGENER, Blackford; and a grandson in the navy. Funeral services were held at 10:30
a.m. today in the Blackford Baptist church, with the Rev. J.R. KING officiating, assisted by the Rev. N.B. SIZEMORE. Burial

Charles Roland BLACKBURN, Jr., son born Thursday afternoon, Feb. 6, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Blackburn in Welborn Baptist Hopsital in Evansville, died there Tuesday morning. Survivors besides the parents are a sister, Jeanne Greene Blackburn; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. B.R. Blackbrun, Hopkinsville, and Mrs. Wesley CROWE, Providence. Brief funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. S.A. MATTHEWS officiating, and burial was in Lakeview cemetery. Mrs. Blackburn returned from the hospital Tuesday evening and is at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Crowe.

Henry Wilson BLACKBURN, 70, died at his home on Finley avenue Sunday
at 3 p.m. following an illness of three months of a heart ailment.
Survivors are the wife, Fannie; one son, Amon Blackburn, Providence;
two sisters, and one grandson. Funeral services were conducted at the
home of the son at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, with the Rev. W.D. OAKLEY
officiating. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Mrs. Josie BLACKBURN, 77, widow of the late J.M. Blackburn, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday at her home in Clay following a long illness. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Harve DAVIS, near Clay, and Mrs. Linda HUDSON, Clay; five sons, Vernon of Liberty, Carville, John, J.D., and Jesse Blackburn of Clay; 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Clay First Baptist Church, with the pastor, the Rev. G.R. ABERNATHY officiating, assisted by the Rev. James ALDERSON of Evansville. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Pallbearers were Elbe HERRON, Dink MARSHALL, W.E. Blackburn, jr., Robert HILL, George SHOULDERS, and Ernest VAUGHN. Mrs. Sally Pearl BLACKBURN, 74, of Clay, widow of the late Johny Blackburn, died at 8 a.m. Friday in Cardwell's Clinic following a stroke suffered two weeks earlier. Mrs. Blackburn was a member of Clay First Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Ruby Kate Blackburn, Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. Lucy TOWNSEND, Clay; a half-sister, Miss Kate PRICE, and a half-brother, Charley Price, near Clay; a stepson, Homer Blackburn, near Clay; three step-grandchildren, Mrs. Edna Earl LIMOUZANE, Washington, D.C.; James HART, Providence; Wayne Hart, Clay; and step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay at 2 p.m. Sunday with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Clay. Miss Clara Pauline BLACKWELL, 51, of Clay, died at 7 p.m. Tuesday in an Evansville hospital where she was taken after she suffered a stroke Tuesday morning. She had been in ill health for some time and had suffered a stroke several months ago. Miss Blackwell, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Blackwell, had been owner of Blackwell's Drug Store in Clay since shortly after the death of her father over thirteen years ago. She was born and reared in Clay and was a member of First Baptist Church, Lottie Moon WMU Circle, and Dorcas Sunday School class, and at one time was active in music groups. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. J. Burl SMITH of Indianapolis, Ind.; and two brothers, W.A. Blackwell of Jacksonville, Fla., and A.E. Blackwell of Bowling Green. The body is at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 3 o'clock this afternoon at Clay First Baptist church, with Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. G.R. ABERNATHY. Burial will be in the city cemetery, Clay. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, May 27, 1954. Compiler's note: Pauline Blackwell's stone is found in Old Blackwell Cemetery in Clay. Her father, Clarence Blackwell 1875-1940, is also buried there.
George Henry BLACKWELL, 78, died at 11 p.m. Tuesday at his home near
Providence following an illness of two weeks. Survivors are six sons,
Curtis, Ira, Jesse, Ken and Buell of Providence, and Ben Blackwell of
Hazel Park, Mich., two daughters, Mrs. Frank HARRISON and Mrs. John
KIRKWOOD, Providence; two brothers, Willie and Beverly Blackwell,
Providence; twenty-four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held at 3 p.m. today at White Oak church,
with the Rev Nealy PEARCY in charge. Burial was to be in Fraser

Jim Bailey BLACKWELL, 67, died at 5 p.m. Friday at his home in Clay following an illness of seventeen years. He was confined to his bed five weeks. Mr. Blackwell was born and reared in Webster county and spent his entire life in the county except for six months when he lived in Florida. He taught in rural schools, and for several years was one of the owners of the Clay Mercantile Company. He started working as a bookkeeper in the Webster County Bank when he was a young man and served as cashier for fifteen years, resigning because of ill health. When the Peoples Bank was organized he was cashier for awhile, but resigned that position because of his health. Later he and R.H. NALL started the Clay Produce Company, but because of his health he turned that business over to Mrs. Blackwell. Mr. Blackwell had been a member of the Baptist church for about fifty yearrs. He was an active member and was a teacher in the Sunday School for several years. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ruby CLARK Blackwell; one son, Kenneth Blackwell, Madisonville; a grandson, Jimmy Rice Blackwell, Madisonville; one sister, Mrs. R.E. MARTIN, Clay; stepmother, Mrs. Rose Blackwell, Clay; two half-brothers, Lloyd Blackwell, of Pride, and Tom Blackwell, Van Nuys, Calif.; four half-sisters, Mrs. Joe WOODRING, of Pride, Mrs. Bob WALLACE, of Wheatcroft, Mrs. Gip WILLIAMS, near Clay, and Miss Lottie Blackwell, Detroit; and a step-brother, G.A. COLVIN, near Clay. Funeral services were held at Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay at 3 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. M.E. MILLER, of Henderson, officiating. Pallbearers were W.E. HEARON, W.I. COOK, W.W. JOHNSON, O.B. CLARK, E.J. QUIREY, and D.A. Vaughn. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

John B. BLACKWELL, 86, died at 8:20 p.m. Tuesday in his home in Clay following an illness of several months. Mr. Blackwell had been a member of New Hope Baptist church for sixty-one years and had served as a deacon most of that time. He lived on a farm near Clay until he moved to town three years ago. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Rose FRYER Blackwell; three sons, J.B. Blackwell and Lloyd Blackwell, Clay and T.B. Blackwell, Van Nuys, Calif.; five daughters, Mrs. R.E. MARTIN and Mrs. Gip WILLIAMS, Clay, Mrs. Joe WOODRING, of Pride, Mrs. Bob WALLACE, Wheatcroft, and Miss Lottie Blackwell, Detroit, Mich.; a stepson, George COLVIN, near Clay; eighteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, in First Baptist church in Clay and will be conducted by the Rev. R.T. MILLER, pastor of the church, the Rev. Porter COLE of Providence, and Elder Gordon T. HEARON. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Mrs. Martha BLACKWELL, 85, died at 10:30 a.m. Friday at her home on North Broadway following a short illness. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Alpha Blackwell, Providence; two sons, Earl Blackwell of Providence, and Carl Blackwell, Madisonville; a grandson, James R. Blackwell, Denver, Colo.; and a sister, Mrs. Enoch PULLAM, Clay rural route. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at White Oak General Baptist Church, with the Rev. L.W. PATTERSON officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Mary BLAINE, 53, who had been in ill health for some time, died suddenly about 1 o'clock last Thursday afternoon at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Thelbert JENNINGS, near Providence. Surviving besides Mrs. Jennings are two other daughters, Mrs. Bernice Earl PAGE, near Clay, and Mrs. Virgil CAMPBELL of Lakeside, Calif.; one son, Clifton Blaine, near Providence; one sister, Mrs. James FLANARY, Clay; two brothers, Thomas WOODARD and Clura Woodard, Clay; and five grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Clay, of which she was a member. Dr. C.O. SIMPSON officiated. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Tom BLAINE, 62, died at 6 p.m. Thursday at his home in Clay following an illness of two years and eight months. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ollie Blaine; one brother, W.H. Blaine, Providence; one sister, Mrs. Dora DAVIS, of Wayne, Mich.; several nieces and nephews; and four stepsons, George, Leamon, Carson and Lazarus POWELL, all of Henderson. Funeral services were conducted in the Franklin Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. Friday, with the Rev. M.E. MILLER officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery, Providence.

David LaRue BLANCHARD, age 3 months and 25 days, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at the home here. Surviving are the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Blanchard; a sister, Brenda Kay; and grandmother, Mrs. Spurling WILSON, all of Providence. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the home with the Rev. Ed OAKLEY officiating. Burial was at Ilsley in Hopkins county.

Williams Joseph BLANFORD, 57, of Henderson, father of Joe Blanford, of Providence, died suddenly at 11 a.m. last Thursday. Other survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Irvin CONRAD, of Evansville, Mrs. G.S. BISHOP, of Smith Mills, and Mrs. Ben BUCKMAN, of Waverly; 11 grandchildren; two sisters and three brothers. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moss funeral residence in Henderson and burial was in St. Peter's cemetery in Waverly.

Carol Sue BOCK, two-day-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bock, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday at the parents' home near Providence. Survivors besides the parents are a sister, Pauline; five brothers, Loren, Allen, Marion, Marvin, and Randy; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lenzy CHITWOOD, Needmore, Ind., and Mrs. Virta Bock, Bloomington, Ind. Burial was in Fairview church cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

and one brother living in Illinois. Funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Sebree, with the

The Rev. C.T. BOUCHER, a former pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Providence, died Sunday night at his home on Route 3, Marion. A short service was held at Tucker Funeral Home in Marion at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, and another service at Liberty Cumberland Presbyterian Church, near Princeton, at 2 p.m. Burial was in Liberty Church cemetery.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Flara EDWARDS, Providence; two sons, Fred Bowers, Oakland City, Ind., and Ernest Bowers, of Greenville, Fla.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Winstead, Wheatcroft. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in the Cumberland Presbyterian church, of which she was a member, with the pastor, the Rev. G.A. HESTER, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery.

Finnie L. BOYD, 66, formerly of Providence, died at 12:10 a.m. Friday in an Evansville hospital. He recently returned to Evansville after spending the winter in Phoenix, Ariz. He was a resident of Webster county until eleven years ago. He was a member of Shady Grove Masonic lodge and Calvary Baptist Church in Evansville. Surviving are the wife, Nannie; two daughter, Mrs. Dewey H. SIGLER of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. A.D. CARDWELL, Providence; three brothers, Clarence and Albert of Detroit, Mich., and Garrett Boyd of Marion; two sisters, Mrs. Dallas DIXON of Marion and Mrs. Porter LENEAVE, Evansville; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Baptist Church in Shady Grove, with the Rev. Albert CULLEN, pastor of Calvary Baptist church, Evansville, officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery with Masons in charge.
