Funeral services for Mrs. Herbert ABBOTT, 26, of Henderson, formerly of Clay, who was killed in an auto-truck crash near Gentryville, Ind., Thursday morning, were held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Clay General Baptist Church. The Rev. E.L. GRANT officiated, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. D.A. DUFFER. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. The body was brought Thursday night to Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay and remained there until time for the funeral. Survivors are the husband; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Brice RICH of Clay; two sons, Bobby and Frankie; a sister, Mrs. Christine HADLEY of Evansville; and a brother, Lloyd Rich, Evansville. Also injured in the crash were Mrs. Abbott's husband, who suffered a broken left leg and head cuts; her brother, Lloyd Rich, broken left leg, broken nose and broken shoulder bone; Mrs. Lloyd Rich, broken left leg, head injuries and cuts and bruises. The three injured were taken to Stork Memorial Hospital in Huntingburg, Ind., and Mr. and Mrs. Rich were moved Saturday to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Indiana State Trooper Louis REUTHER, who investigated the crash, said a semi-trailer truck failed to stop where road repairs necessitated one-lane traffic, struck another car and ricocheted into the traffic lane in front of the car driven by Mr. Rich. He said Mr. Rich was unable to stop in time to avoid striking the truck. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, July 24, 1952. John Robert (Bob) ADAMS, 70, former resident of Providence and Shady Grove, died Friday at his home in Evansville after several weeks' illness. Surviving are the wife, Clara, of Evansville; five daughters, Mrs. Archie SMITH and Mrs. Bennie KEEN of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Marvin SHELTON of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Lala GOOCH and Mrs. Red THOMAS of Evansville; three sons, Clarence of Eldorado, Ill., Gene and Robert Adams of Evansville; a sister, Mrs. Willie BOYD, Shady Grove; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday in Eldorado, Ill., with burial there. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, September 6, 1945.

Mrs. Nevada Elizabeth ADAMS, 63, of Corydon, formerly of Clay, died at 1 a.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Walter BROWN, in Evansville. The body was brought to Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay Saturday. Surviving are the husband, T.J. Adams, of Corydon; the daughter; a granddaughter, Miss Nettie Frances Brown, of Evansville; three brothers, Verder WHITLEDGE, of Cairo, Jim Whitledge, of Dixon, and W.T. Whitledge, of Clay; and one sister, Mrs. Nelia DeFRANCE, of Detroit. Funeral services were conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in the General Baptist church in Clay, with the Rev. W.W. Thomas Malvert ADAMS, 82, died at 7 a.m. Sunday at his home in Sebree as the result of a cerebral hemorrhage. He was found at noon Friday in the yard of his home and remained in a semi-conscious condition until his death. Mr. Adams, a prominent retired farmer, at one time had engaged in mining. His name appeared first on the church roll of Mt. Lebanon General Baptist Church. Survivors are a son, Alton, of Sebree; a daughter, Mrs. Will ROACH, St. Louis MO; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Roma MELTON, near Sebree; and a brother, W.C. Adams, of Henderson County. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Lebanon Church, with the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE of Poole, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Delter ADAMSON, 69, died suddenly at 5 p.m. Tuesday while working in a field on his farm near Sebree. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Survivors are three brothers, Oscar, of Providence, Gordon, of Sebree, and Frank, of Huntington, Tenn.; and two sisters, Mrs. Effie RUSSELL, of Corydon, and Mrs. Lola WHITLEDGE, of Robards. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon at the home, with the Rev. R.K. AKERS, of Evansville, officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Boxville. Henry ADKINS, 70, died at 5:15 p.m. Thursday at his home near Sebree, following an illness of two years. Survivors are two brothers, Ben Adkins, near Sebree, and Pete Adkins, Louisville; and one sister, Mrs. Nora BRACKETT, near Sebree. Mr. Adkins was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Poole. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Petersburg church, the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE of Poole officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Laura Ellen ADKINS, 86, died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday of last week in the home of a son, Brodie Adkins, on Maple street. She was a member of Silent Run Baptist church. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Flora HICKS, of Hopkins county, Mrs. Eva MOORE, of Providence, and Mrs. Otha CLARK, Chicago; two sons, Clarence, of Hopkins county, and Brodie, Providence; 16 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Katherine BEARD, Madisonville, and Mrs. Susie KIRKWOOD, Hopkins county; and one brother, Jim HOWTON, Hopkins county. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Beulah church, with the Rev. Albert KEMP officiating. Burial was in Beulah cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, September 15, 1949.

Malcolm Eugene ADKINS, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Adkins, near Dixon, was killed instantly at 1 a.m. Christmas day when he was struck by a truck on U.S. highway 41 about a quarter mile south of Dixon. The youth and his brother, Melvin Adkins, were enroute to their home a short distance off highway 41 on the Dixon-Clay road, when in front of the home of Judge W.D. WHITLEDGE they experienced trouble with their car. They were outside the car attempting to make repairs when the truck struck the boy. Melvin also was struck but received no serious injury. The driver of the truck, Charles R. VINCENT, of Cynthiana, Ind., is said to have failed to stop and later was arrested near Providence and was taken to the county jail in Dixon by Sheriff Ben HERRINGTON. He is being held on a charge of involuntary manslaughter in default of $1,000 bond. Surviving the boy are his parents; three brothers, Earl of Evansville, Melvin and James of Dixon; two sisters, Mrs. Leroy TAPP, Henderson, and Mrs. William HORTON, Uniontown and a grandmother, Mrs. Lizzie SPARKS, South Bend, Ind. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the General Baptist church in Dixon, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY officiating. Burial was in Fernwood cemetery, Henderson. Ora Lee ADKINS, 47, former Providence resident, died Tuesday of last week in Gary, Ind. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Darrell HANCOCK of Lexington; three sons, Carroll and William of Detroit, Mich., and Darrell Adkins, with the U.S. Army in Germany; five brothers, Clarence of Philadelphia, Pa., John and Ches Adkins, Madisonville, and Willie and Walter Adkins, of Kewanee, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Lanna HAYES, Kewanee, Ill. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in White Oak cemetery. Mrs. Siner ADKINS, 77, died Tuesday at her home on Lexington avenue in Providence. She was a member of Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters Mrs. Onie MEAZLES and Miss Lula MATTHEWS, Providence. The body is at Melton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Primitive Baptist Church, with Elder Aaron REEDER of Harrisburg, Ill., officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Madisonville. The body of Pfc. Bennie AGIN, 26, will arrive Thursday morning and will be taken to Tapp Funeral Home in Providence where it will remain until time for funeral services. Pfc. Agin, who lived in Providence before entering service, was killed in action in France on Aug. 17, 1944. Survivors are a brother, William Berkley Agin, East St. Louis, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Adie Elizabeth LEE, of Corydon, and Mrs. Bertha OAKLEY, Providence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the General Baptist church, with the Rev. C.W. DUFFER officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F.cemetery, Clay. Edna Diane AKINS, infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Akins, of Lisman, stillborn Thursday in an Evansville hospital, was buried Friday in Fairview cemetery. Survivors besides the parents, are three sisters, Mrs. Malcolm EDENS, Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Ernie Edens, Dixon, and Miss Mary Edith Akins, at home. Mrs. Eliza Ann ALDRIDGE, 74, of Evansville died Tuesday at 7:30 a.m. at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bill BROWN in Sturgis. Mrs. Aldridge was a former resident of Clay. Her husband, the late Dr. W.A. Aldridge, practiced medicine there. She broke her hip a month ago, and after being in a hospital for a time was taken to her daughter's home. Mrs. Aldridge was a member of the Ashland Cumberland Presbyterian church near Clay. Survivors are the daughter, two sons, Jackie Aldridge, Clay, and Abie Aldridge, Evansville; several grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Lee FLETCHER, Mrs. Cordie JONES, and Mrs. Lula TOWNSEND, all of Clay; two brothers, Ode GIBSON, Clay, and John Gibson, Shawneetown, Ill. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brown in Sturgis, with burial in Main Street cemetery, Clay. Mrs. Alice ALEXANDER, 66, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday in her home on Sycamore street. Survivors are one son, Les Alexander, Providence; one daughter, Mrs. Edgar CASTILE, Providence; 23 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill McGREGOR, Earlington; and two sisters, Mrs. Bell HUDDLESTON, Carbondale, Ky., and Mrs. Susie DeARMOND, Dawson Springs. Andrew Marion ALEXANDER, 80, died Sunday at his home in Mortons Gap. Survivors are the wife, Bertha, formerly of Providence; two daughters, Mrs. Minnie PHILLIPS, Anderson, Ind., and Mrs. Mae BARNETT, Louisville; two sons, James of Detroit, Mich., and Francis of Anderson, Ind.; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah CRAFT and Mrs. Ethel GOODRICH of Dawson Springs, and Mrs. Minnie COOK of Princeton; and four brothers, Seabie of Madisonville, Lucien, Emmett, and Luther of Dawson Springs. The body was at Melton Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at New Salem Baptist Church near Mortons Gap, with the Rev. Kenneth Matthews of Henderson officiating. Rose Marie ALFORD, 4-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Alford, died at 6 p.m. Monday at their home. She had been ill since birth. Survivors are the parents; four sisters, Imogene, Betty Ann, Dorothy Mae, and Lorene; and two brothers, James Henry and Billy T. A brief service was conducted by the Rev. Albert KEMP at the home at 2 p.m. Tuesday, and burial was in Coffman cemetery in Hopkins county. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, February 23, 1950.

Mrs. Eva NORTHERN ALLEN, 75, died suddenly at 3 p.m. Thursday at her home on Union street. The daughter of Peter and Mary Northern, she was born January 10, 1880, in Webster county. She was a member of the General Baptist Church in Providence. Surviving are the husband, Thomas Allen; two daughters, Mrs. Nona LANE and Mrs. Vivian SHARP, both of Detroit, Mich.; eight sons, Natie, of Henderson, Clyde of Houston, Tex., Fred, James, T.J., and Morris, of Detroit, Carl and Norris, of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and one brother, Willie Northern, Evansville. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the General Baptist Church, with the Rev. Edward CARVER, pastor, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, March 24, 1955. Compiler's note: Thomas R. Allen, b. 1874, bur. 14 Feb 1966, is buried next to his wife Eva Allen in Clay I.O.O.F. Cemetery.

Funeral services for Lem ALLEN, 57, of Ashbyburg were held at New Salem Friday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. L.F. PIERCEY officiating, assisted by the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Allen died Tuesday, Feb. 26. Survivors are the wife, Lizzie; one daughter, Mrs. Art PORTER, Evansville; and two grandchildren. Mrs. Nannie ALLEN, 70, widow of the late J.B. Allen, died at 2 p.m. Thursday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Robert TOWERY, in Hopkinsville, where she had been since June. She had been in ill health for some time and in a serious condition since May. Mrs. Allen, a daughter of Philip and Mary DEBOE, was born in Crittenden county on Sept. 1, 1876. She had lived in Providence since 1923. Both she and the late Mr. Allen, who operated Allen and Son Cleaners, were pioneer members of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Towery, of Hopkinsville, and Mrs. Bryan HARDIN, Providence; a son, Roy E. Allen, Providence; five grandchildren; two brothers, Hugh Deboe, Cotton Plant Ark., and William Deboe, Providence; and two sisters, Mrs. John W. HUFFMAN, Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. J.E. PERRY, Marion. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Allen. The Rev. Walter CHESTNUT, pastor of Hopkinsville Cumberland Presbyterian church, officiated, assisted by the Rev. George A. HESTER, pastor of the Providence church. Pallbearers were Denver Perry, Marion; Robert Perry, Madisonville; Allen MELTON, Aubin SIRIA, Leo SHELTON, and Clyde PARSLEY. Burial was in Maple View cemetery, Marion. Masonic funeral services were held September 14 in Sausalito, Calif., for Willie D. ARCHIBALD, 72, state bank examiner under two Kentucky governors. Mr. Archibald was a native of Slaughters and the son of the late Dr. Archibald and Randy PARKER Archibald. In later years he had made his home in Bedford, Ky. At the time of his death he was visiting his daughter, Mrs. Frances Knight BRECKINRIDGE. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. E.J. MAHONEY, jr., of Lansing, Mich., and Mrs. Virginia NELSON of Jeffersonville, Ind.; and a son John P. Archibald. The body was cremated and will be returned to Slaughters, his birthplace, for burial. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, September 23, 1954. Compiler's note: The next issue of the paper tells of graveside rites held at Slaughters Cemetery on Friday, August 12, 1955, for William Davis Archibald. In this article the survivors are named somwhat differently than above and I will list them and let the reader draw his own conclusions. "Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. E.J. Mahoney, jr., of Kentfield, Calif., Mrs. E. Breckenbeck, of Spain, and Mrs. Rhetta Nelson, of Louisville; a son, John of Colma, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Clair Hancock of Henderson; and a brother, Herman Archibald of Quebec, Canada." Willie D. Funeral services for Henry Fredrick ARHELGER, 52, were held at 11 a.m. on July 1 at Johann Memorial Temple in Evansville, with the Rev. Frank HAMILTON officiating. Burial was in Shiloh cemetery at Lisman. Mr. Arhelger, husband of the former Miss Stella Frances HARRIS, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion J. Harris, near Sturgis, formerly of Webster county, died of a heart attack on June 29 at the home of his sisters, Misses Elizabeth and Katherine Arhelger, near Evansville, where he was staying while undergoing hospital treatment. Other survivors are two sons, David Earl, age 2, and Henry A. Arhelger, of Louisville. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, July 14, 1949. Compiler's note: Henry F. Benjamin Franklin ARMSTRONG, 62, died at 6 p.m. Sunday in an Evansville hospital where he had been a patient since the previous Monday. He had been in ill health for some time. Mr. Armstrong was a member of Mt. Pleasant church at Sullivan. Survivors are the wife, Margaret; two sons, James Lockett Armstrong of Benton, and Willie Austin Armstrong, who is overseas with the Navy Seabees; a sister, Mrs. Emma WALLACE of Providence; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the S.E. Montgomery and Son funeral home, with the Rev. J.R. KING of Blackford officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove cemetery, near Marion. Deborah Hines ARMSTRONG, nine-months-old daughter of W/O James L. Armstrong and Mrs. Armstrong of Ft. Campbell, formerly of Clay, died in the Ft. Campbell hospital at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Surviving besides the parents are a sister, Karen Lynn Armstrong; and grandparents, C.W. SHARP of Masonville and Mr. and Mrs. L.D. ARMSTRONG of Clay. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Delbert J. Glenn Funeral Home in Owensboro, with the Rev. Ira P. CRENSHAW officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Owensboro. J.J. ("Sug") ARMSTRONG, 88, died at 1 a.m. Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tom BLADES, in the Government section. Survivors are the daughter, one son, Tom Armstrong, of the Government section, two grandsons in the armed forces, and two granddaughters. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Blades, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating. Burial was in the Government cemetery. Samuel M. ARMSTRONG, 76, of the Government section, died at 2:30 this morning at the home of a daughter, Mrs. C.E. MYERS, in Madisonville, following a lingering illness of a heart ailment. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Myers of Madisonville, Mrs. Rufus YARBROUGH of Providence, and Mrs. Ira G. TABOR, Dawson Springs; one brother, J.A. (Sug) Armstrong of the Government section; six grandsons, two granddaughters, and three great-grandsons. The body was brought here to the S.E. Montgomery & Son Funeral Home, and will remain there until time for Funeral services. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 10 a.m. in Mt. Olivet Methodist church in the Government section, with burial in Traylor cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, October 22, 1942.

The body of Mrs. William B. ARMSTRONG, the former Miss Katherine FOX, who was reared in Providence, is expected to arrive in Evansville about July 20 from Monrovia, Liberia, West Africa, where she died on June 23. Funeral services will be held in Evansville, with burial in Oak Hill cemetery there. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong were married on Jan. 28, 1949, and later went to Liberia where he is transportation manager for Firestone Rubber Plantations Company. He is accompanying the body to Evansville. Mrs. Armstrong, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Fox, of Providence, is survived by the husband; three sisters, Mrs. Claud ERWIN, of Evansville, Mrs. David GIVENS, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Mrs. Kerney BENJAMIN, of Phoenix, Ariz.; and grandmother, Mrs. J.N. Henry Norman ARTMAN, 67, died at 4 a.m. Saturday at the home of a son, Norman Artman and Mrs. Artman, in Clay following a long illness. Surviving are two sons, Norman of Clay and Texal of St. Louis MO; a daughter, Mrs. Carrol STONE of Clay; six grandchildren; two brothers, Thomas of West Frankfort IL; and Lindal Artman of Newport News VA; and two sisters, Mrs. Tish BYRD of Vincennes IN and Katy of Milwaukee, WI. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the General Baptist Church in Clay, with the Rev. E.L. GRANT officiating. Burial was in the Poole Cemetery. Mrs. Cliffie Ora ASHBY, 69, died Friday morning at her home on Route 3, Sebree. Surviving are the husband, Noble; five daughters, Mrs. Dorothy KOHL, Mrs. Jewell WATSON, Mrs. Aileen McCURRY, and Mrs. Ora Lee MAJORS, all of Sebree, and Mrs. Nita GARDNER, of Williamsburg; three sons, William M., Noble E., and Robert Ashby, of Sebree; and 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist Church in Sebree, with the Rev. Fred GLOVER and the Rev. J.A. JOHNSON officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree. Columbus P. ASHBY, 85, former Slaughters resident, died in his home in Hopkinsville last Wednesday after an illness of three months. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Ashby; four sons, C.L. and F.A. Ashby, Evansville, Karl Ashby, Auburn, and Claude C. Ashby, Nashville, Tenn.; four daughters, Mrs. J.D. CATES, Daytona Beach, Fla., Mrs. J.C. HAYDON and Mrs. Louise McREYNOLDS, Hopkinsville, and Mrs. E.A. LAWRENCE, Nashville, Tenn.; three sisters, Mrs. George POWELL, Mexico, Mo., Mrs. Marion SISK, Earlington, Mrs. Frank McCOOL, Evansville; a brother, Ed F. Ashby, Slaughters; fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the home Thursday and burial was in the Slaughters cemetery. Douglas ASHBY, 76, died at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at his home near Onton. Mr. Ashby, a farmer, was a director of the Southern States Cooperative at Madisonville. Surviving are the wife, Nellie; two sons, D.W. Ashby of Onton and Austin Ashby of Henderson; two sisters, Mrs. Posie HENRY, Sebree, and Mrs. Mamie ELLIOTT, Evansville; one grandchild and one great-grandchild. Burial was in the church cemetery. Edward Timothy ASHBY, 83, retired farmer, died Saturday at 11:45 p.m. at his home on Route 3. Slaughters. Mr. Ashby suffered a stroke more than a year ago and had been confined to his home. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Irma Ashby and Mrs. Frances QUIREY, Slaughters Route 3; a son, Elbert Ashby, Evansville; and a sister, Mrs. Frank McCOOL of Dixon; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Slaughters Christian Church, with Dr. George SWANN and the Rev. B.L. SALE officiating. Herschel ASHBY, 53, of Slaughters died in Henderson Hospital Saturday afternoon of injuries received early Saturday morning in a crash near the entrance to Dade Park, in which three cars were involved. The accident occurred as Mr. Ashby was enroute with a group of men to work in an Evansville war plant. William TOWNSEND, also of Slaughters, suffered a fractured pelvis and is reported to be in a serious condition in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville. Three other occupants of the car as well as occupants of the other two cars, received minor injuries. Surviving Mr. Ashby are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Vada CRABTREE, and Mrs. Marie JACK of Evansville, and Mary June Ashby of Slaughters; and two sons, Grayden and Malcolm of Slaughters. Funeral services were held Monday at Emberry church near Hanson, with the Rev. C.W. SIMPSON, pastor of Hanson Methodist church, officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mrs. Laura B. ASHBY, 80, of Hanson, died Sunday afternoon in the home of a daughter, Mrs. R.V. STARR, at Slaughters. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Starr and Mrs. M.J. PARKER; a son, J.C. Ashby; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday in the Slaughters Methodist church with the Rev. C.W. SIMPSON officiating. Burial was in the Slaughters cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, December 30, 1943.

Mrs. Lena Lindly ASHBY, 75, of Onton, died at 8:50 p.m. Saturday at Methodist Hospital in Henderson after a long illness. She was the widow of W.W. Ashby who died in 1945. She was a member of Onton Methodist Church and Rebekah lodge. Surviving are a brother, Elbert LITTLE, Cabot, Ark.; two half-brothers, Walter Little of Berrin Center, Mich., and Dorsey Little, Phoenix, Ariz.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Rurah BRACKETT of Evansville, Mrs. Bessie WARREN of Henderson, and Mrs. Edna SKEGENBERGEN of Portland, Ore. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Methodist church in Onton, with the Rev. T.O. KYLE officiating. Burial was in Onton cemetery. M.B. ASHBY, 71, farmer, died suddenly at noon Monday at his home near the city limits of Sebree. He had been in Sebree during the morning and collapsed after he reached his home. At one time he was an undertaker in Sebree. Surviving are his wife, Flora, and a son, Roy. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Pentecostal Mission in Sebree, with burial in Springdale cemetery there. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, December 11, 1934.

Elza Newton ASHER, 57, died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday at his home near Clay after a month's illness. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Stella Hall ASHER; one son, Tony Asher; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Asher, near Clay; one brother, Erskin Asher; two sisters, Mrs. Gertie McGRAW, near Clay, and Mrs. Oma HAUSAM of Peoria, Ill.; one niece and two nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the General Baptist Church in Clay, with the pastor, the Rev. Minvil CLARK, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Hardin ASHER, 73, committed suicide by hanging himself in a barn on his farm near Dixon last Thursday. Coroner J. Murray BLUE said Mr. Asher had been dead about five hours when the body was found. Survivors are two sisters, Mrs. Noah LESLIE of Dixon and Mrs. Ida WILLIAMS of Cincinnati; and stepmother, Mrs. Josie Asher, with whom he made his home. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the home with Max TOWELL officiating. Burial was in the Jones family cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, September 17, 1953.

Mrs. Permelia Jane ASHER, 88, widow of the late T.J. Asher, died Friday evening in the home of her daughter, Mrs. T.H. ALLEN, in Rogersville, Mo. Mrs. Asher spent her entire life in Dixon until she went to Missouri about three years ago to make her home with her daughter. She had been a member of the Dixon General Baptist church since early in life and was a charter member of the Dixon Eastern Star chapter. Besides the daughter, a son, Essel HEARIN, of California, survives. The body was returned to Dixon Monday evening and remained at Tapp Funeral Home until time for funeral services. Funeral was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the General Baptist church in Dixon, with the Rev. Nealy PEARCY officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove cemetery, Dixon, with the Eastern Star in charge. A.D. (Pete) ASHLEY, 75, near Petersburg, died Wednesday night in the Henderson hospital after a four-day illness and operation. Survivors are the wife, Oma; one son, Jesse Ashley of Henderson; one daughter, Mrs. J.W. WATSON, Sebree; three grandchildren; a brother, John Ashley, Sebree; and a sister, Mrs. C.M. RICHARDSON, Sebree. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Petersburg Methodist church with the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD of Slaughters officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, April 18, 1946.

Funeral services for Mrs. Oma Mae ASHLEY, 80, of Sebree were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Pentecostal Church in Sebree. The Rev. Ed TODD of Evansville, the Rev. William COLLINS and the Rev. W.H. ESSARY officiated. Burial was in Petersburg cemetery. Mrs. Ashley died at 1 a.m. Wednesday, October 26 at her home in Sebree. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Charles REDDICK of Indianapolis, Ind.; a son, Jesse, of Sebree; a brother, Rob CATES of Winslow, Ind.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, November 3, 1955.
