Fall, 1999 Last month Bill and I visited the new Kentucky History Center in Frankfort. I hope all of you will have a chance to visit and enjoy this magnificent 167,000 square-foot facility, which houses the state museum as well as the KHS research library. I had an opportunity to briefly visit the library and it exceeded my expectations. The collection includes over 80,000 books and 10,000 reels of microfilm. The main reading room will accommodate 108 patrons; each study table has both a computer connection and a phone jack for your laptop. There are six stations, each with a computer that contains the library's card catalog and each is also connected to the internet.

The Kentucky History Center opened April 1999. It is located at 100 West Broadway in Frankfort, Kentucky. Several years later the name of the history center was changed to honor the late Kentucky Historian Laureate, Thomas D. Clark. It is now the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
