NC M.B. (Moses B.) Adkins was born about 1802 in North Carolina. His parents, Lewis Adkins, and his second wife, Obedience Adkins, moved to GA, then on to Maury Co, TN, where his father died about 1810, and his mother remarried to Mr. Chunn. Lewis Adkins, born 22 Aug 1745 in Surry Co, VA, was the son of Lewis Adkins, sr. and Elizabeth Felts. Lewis Adkins sr.'s father was Richard Adkins. It was in Maury Co TN that Moses Adkins married Francis Helton, the dau of Jesse and Elizabeth Helton, on 13 Feb 1840.
