William Jewell, believed to be the son of Sanford & Susan Jewell of Prince William County VA, married Mary Ann "Polly" Stark 16 Nov 1837 Spencer County KY and they became the parents of at least seven children.

After Mary Ann's death in 1856, William Jewell remarried and is listed in later census records with a wife named Sarah, born about 1830. Sarah A. Jewell, w/o Wm., d/o Wm. Brand with the dates 2 Jan 1827-8 Apr 1876, is buried at Caldwell-Watson cemetery but it is unknown whether or not this is William Jewell's second wife.

William Jewell's brother Presley Jewell is also buried in this cemetery.
