Whiteside Higginson was the son of George Thomas Higginson and Mary Stockwell, who are buried at Higginson Cemetery.

Whiteside Higginson was the father of twelve children. He married 1] Sarah Harriet Threlkeld (three children); 2] Permelia Dorris (five children); and 3] Elizabeth Ramsey (four children).
