The Sebree Banner reports on the 1998 Hancock Reunion in the August 20, 1998 issue of the newspaper. The article is quoted here with permission of the Banner."The descendants of Lewis and Sally Bradshaw Hancock met at the Onton Fire Barn on Sunday, August 9, for their annual day of fellowship. As was expected, a large crowd attended. It is not known when the first Hancock Reunion was held but it is believed to be before 1901.
"Lewis and Sally were the parents of eighteen children, thirteen of them living to be adults and having children of their own. They had 108 grandchildren and all but 17 (early deceased or never married) produced large families of their own. At the turn of the century, this family was one of the largest in the state of Kentucky.
"Benjamin B. Hancock had the most descendants present - 21; Sarah Jane Hancock Timmons - 7; Cynthia Hancock Ashby - 3; Lewis Thomas Hancock - 4; Ellen Judy Hancock Luck - 10; William Henry Harrison Hancock - 1; Adelene A. Hancock Carlisle - 1; James E. Hancock - 2. There were a number who were descendants from two of Lewis and Sally's children.
"Mr. and Mrs. Tony Wooton traveled the farthest, their home being in Fitchburg, Wisconsin. Mrs. Lois Trice was the oldest attending. She is the great-great-grandchild of Lewis and Sally. The closest of kin to the paternal ancestor were two great grandchildren - Wilma Branson Patterson, a descendant of Ellen Judy Hancock Luck, and Alvin Fleming, a descendant of William Henry Harrison Hancock.
"Others attending were Sylvia Hancok, Louise Fleming, Oneal and Betty Wright, Ruth Timmons Lisenby, Sarah King, Bill and Sue Oakley, Dora Jane Hall, Estonia Jackson Edwards, Charles and Rhonda Rawlings, Zachary Parker, Don and Marsha Noffsinger, Andrea Noffsinger, Reba Luck, Ralph and Gladys Luck, Jean Luck, Ted and Logan Nance, Fletcher Nance, Holman Hancock, Frank Hancock, Joe R. Nance, Jeremy, Jason and Joni Hoesli, Lynne Willyerd, Dr. Norris and Mary Lou Branson, Kevin Luck, Kenneth H. and Annie Ashby, Sarah Jane Price, Marion Dunville, Edith Roland, Martine Wise, Henry C. and Georgia Parker, Vickie Blue Shoulders, J.P.
