An article in the August 13, 1998 Sebree Banner has as its headline "Civil War Sites Documented." With the Banner's permission, we have copied the article in its entirety."The Webster County Kentucky Committee on Civil War Sites has documented the Civil War Sites in Webster County.
To preserve the history of our county with the assistance of the Webster County Historical and Genealogical Society and the Webster County Fiscal Court, there will be signs erected at each site throughout the county. This will be in order to participate in the Civil War Driving Tour sponsored by the Kentucky Heritage and Tourism Council, Frankford.
The signs will be erected at four major sites in Webster County:
At a later date there will be a dedication of these major sites at the Courthouse in Dixon. There will be brochures made up for anyone that would like to do the Civil War Driving Tour. If anyone would like to donate to help with this project, please call Gretha Holloman, Sue Dunbar, Roxie Rhea, or Lowell Childress. Phone numbers to call are 667-5590 and 639-5439 or 667-5022."
