Joseph Petty Howard Sr., Sarah Elizabeth
(Howard) Dunn, John William Howard Jr.
It was taken in 1897 in Texas, Sarah & John Jr. left Kentucky for Texas
during
the Civil War. One can only guess that they wish to keep their slaves since
they did have then in Texas. It must have been a bit difficult since their
younger brother was fighting for the U.S.

Sitting is John Christopher Howard, the two smaller boys
are Cousins Melvin & Gordon Driver Sons of Hattie Florine
(Howard), Driver, Downer. (Bowling Green, KY) The tall boy ???
My Grandfather left Simpson County,
Kentucky @ 19 yrs, in 1933
for Cleveland, Ohio. The Group photo is the only time my father
saw his Grandfather, John Christopher Howard. He came by train
up to Cleveland to his son's home on W-116th Street, Cleveland
where the photo was taken.

P. Howard Sr. ,
William T. (1859-1942) and Sallie (Young)
(1862-1931) Howard
They were married, October 08, 1882.
They are buried at Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery along with Joseph
Petty Howard Sr,, his wife Virginia H. (Celsor) Howard and
several of Joseph & Virginia's children who died at a young age.
