Mrs. J. M. Mason died at the home of her daughter, MRS. J. E. NEWMAN, on West Cedar street, Sunday morning, from heart failure. She was 93 years of age last August, and the oldest citizen of Simpson county, her next-door neighbor, Mrs. NANCY BAIRD, having been 93 in September. Mrs. Mason was formerly Miss LUCINDIA CLARK. She was reared in Mitchellville, Tenn., and moved to Franklin in 1864. She was a member of the old Methodist church at Mitchellville... Mrs. Mason was the mother of seven children, three of whom survive--Mrs. CARRIE ASHFORD, MRS. J. E. NEWMAN and Miss MOLLIE MASON, all of this place.

Georgia Mayes - Funeral services were held yesterday morning at Booker Funeral Home for Mrs. Georgia Mayes. Burial was at the McKendree Chapel Cemetery Mrs. Mayes, age 82 of Franklin, died Monday morning at Franklin-Simpson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Macon Co TN, she was the daughter of the late Joel and Betty Beasley Dyer and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. J.V. Butt and Mrs. J.C. Gregory, both of Franklin, and Mrs. Charlie Williamson of Pawnee, Ill.; five brothers, Jesse, Milton, Sammy, Joe and Donald Dyer, all of Lafayette, TN; two sisters, Mrs. Rachel Bransford, Madison, TN and Mrs. Laura Sneed, Gallatin; 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

MAYES

James Robert "Bobby" Mayes, of Huntsville, died 26 Oct 1985 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green following a lengthy illness.

Services were held Oct. 29 at Huntsville Baptist Church. Burial was in the Huntsville Baptist Church Cemetery. Smith Funeral Home at Huntsville was in charge of arrangements.

A native of Simpson County, he was the son of Mrs. Pauline Gore of Franklin and Edgar Mayes of Louisville, both who survive.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Mrs. Nell Mayes of Huntsville; two sons, Jimmy Mayes of Nashville, TN, and Ronnie Mayes of Huntsville; three daughters, Mrs. Vivan Hargrave of Franklin, Mrs. Tammy Hammers of (the rest of the clipping is missing)

Mary Joyce McCready, 81, of Parrish, Fla., died Feb. 11, 2005. No funeral services are planned at this time. Ms. McCready was a native of Simpson County, a homemaker, a member of the Eastern Star and member of the Parrish United Methodist Church. She was the daughter of the late Seymour Smith and Sally Smith Sullivan. Survivors include one daughter, Sally Dunn of Parrish and two grandchildren.

Mrs. A. F. Montague, aged 77, and one of the town’s best-known and most beloved women, died at the home of her daughter MRS. WINSTON, at 8 o’clock on Monday evening. She is survived by three daughters, MRS. GEO. B. KNAPP, JR., Mrs. EDITH WINSTON and MRS. DAVID WINSTON, and two sons, Messrs. GUS MONTAGUE, of Matlock, Ky., and W. C. MONTAGUE, of Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted from the residence at 9 o’clock yesterday morning by Rev. J. T. McGLOTHLIN after which interment followed in the Robey burying ground.

Obituaries May 11, 1901 – Oct. 24, 1903 Source: Gallatin (Miscellaneous) Microfilm Roll #102 - Date: 1827 – 1903 Wednesday, February 11, 1903) - Mrs. Joseph Moye - Mrs. Moye, widow of Joseph Moye, died Friday near Perdue, at the age of 71 years. Her burial took place at Fountain Head Saturday. She was a most excellent woman and her death is the source of much sorrow among her friends. She is survived by a number of children, all grown.

Franklin Favorite - 12 Feb 1903 - Mrs Celia Moye, and estimable old lady of New Roe, Allen County, died last Thursday in the 73rd year of her age.  She suffered a stroke of paralysis long before her death, and was ever afterwards a hopeless invalid.  She leaves 7 children.  The remains were interred at Fountain Head.

Mrs. Fadis Moye Dies at Home Of Daughter After Long Illness - Funeral services for Mrs. Fadis Moye, 90, were yesterday after­noon at Booker Funeral Home. The Rev. Issac McDowell officiated. Burial was at Shady Grove cemetery. Mrs. Moye died Monday night at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dale Tribble, Tulip Street, following a long illness. She was a nat­ive of Simpson County. Other survivors include her husband, Fadis Moye; another daugh­ter, Mrs. John Bremer, Fairmont, Minn; a son, George Moye, also of Fairmont and two-grandchildren.

Sumner Co Man Answers Summons – Funeral Services For Dixie Moye Held at Cornith Church of Christ - Dixie Moye died at his home in Sumner County, Tennessee, December 3. Born December 8. 1868, his entire life was spent in Sumner County. On January 17 he was married to Miss Cammie Mattox. To them were born, two sons and a daughter, Riley Gordon and Willie Gilbert Moys and Pauline (Mrs. Leslie Ashloc), all of whom survive. Also surviving are three granddaughters, Misses Billie Marie and Norma Ray Moye and Bonnie Jo Ashloc. Known as ‘Uncle Dick’, Mr. Moye was respected by a wide circle of friends and neighbors. Funeral services were conducted at the Corinth Church of Christ in Sumner County, Monday after­noon, December 11 at 2:00 o’clock by Rev. Tidwell of Portland with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. E.J. Moye Dies at Age 93 At Local Hospital - Mrs. E J Moye, age 93, died Nov. 18 at the local hos­pital after a long illness. Services were Nov. 15 at Booker Funeral Home on West Cedar. Burial was in Shady Grove. A native of Simpson County and the daughter of the late John Hughes and Martha Hughes, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hayden Eaton, Bowling Green, and Sarah Tho­mas, Franklin; one son, Fred Mayo Simpson County; two great granddaughters and two great-great grandchildren.

Faddis N. Moye, 81 Dies At Home Here After Long Illness - Funeral services for Faddis Newton Moye, 81 year old native of Simpson County, were held Wednesday afternoon at the Booker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerome Brown of Louisville and Rev Hobart Cook officiating. Burial was at Shady Grove Cemetery Mr. Moye died January 28 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Dale Tribble on Tulip Drive, following a long illness. Mr. Moye was a son of the late George Moye and Mrs. Sarah Jane Smith Moye. Survivors, in addition to Mrs. Tribble include another daughter, Mrs. John Bremer, and a son George Moye, both of Fairmont, Minnesota; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Huffines of Franklin.

 Funeral services for Fred Moye, 72, were held Satur­day afternoon at Booker Fu­neral Home with burial at Greenlawn. Moye died Wednesday night at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville after a brief illness. A native of Simpson Coun­ty, he was the son of the late Edmund Moye and Nancy Hu­ghes Moye. He served two terms as jailer from 1954 to 1962 and was a retired farmer and resident of the Scottsville Road. Survivors are his wile, Mrs. Geneva Evans Moye; two sis­ters, Mrs. Sara Thomas of Franklin and Mrs. Haden Eaton of Bowling Green, three nieces and two nephews.

A teacher in the Simpson County school system for 40 years, Mrs. Geneva Evans Moye, has died at the age of 80. Mrs. Moye died Nov. 2 at the Franklin-Simpson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She taught history in the school system at the time of her retirement. She was a member of the Franklin First Baptist Church. Services were held Nov 5 at Booker Funeral Home with Rev. David Crocker officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Alvis N and Jessie Emma Wright Evans and the widow of Fred Move. She is survived by one brother, George Evans of Franklin and two nieces and nephews.

George Moye. 94, of Fairmont, MN died Sept. 22, 2003 in Fairmont. Funeral services were held Sept. 27 in Fairmont. Moye was a Simpson Co native. Survivors from Simpson Co include a sister Elizabeth Tribble.

Mrs. George Moye, 75, of Fairmont, Minn., died Tuesday, June 6, 1989 Fairmont follow­ing a long illness. Services were held June 9 in Fairmont, Minn. Local survivors include a sis­ter-in-law, Mrs. Dale Tribble of Franklin and several cousins from Franklin. Other survivors include her husband, George Moye of Fairmont, Minn.; one son, Phillip Moye and one daughter Mrs. David Klammer, both of Minne­sota; and several grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Herman Moye Held Here Tuesday - Funeral services for Herman Moye, 74, Franklin, were held Tuesday at Booker Funeral Home.  Burial was at Greenlawn.  Moye died Sunday at teh Carter Moore Community Hospital after a brief illness.  A Native of Simpson Co, he was the son of the late George and Queen Goodman Moye.  He was a veteran of WW I and a retired employee of the state highway Dept.  Hi is survived by 2 sisters, Mrs Mayme Ruth Harris and Mrs Myrtle Durham, both of Franklin and several nieces and nephews.

James Spurgeon Moye Dies here This Morning - James Spurgeon Moye, age 73, of Frank­lin, died this morning at the Franklin-Simpson Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be tomorrow at 2 p.m. at Booker Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Sulphur Spring Cemetery. He was a native of Sumner County, Tenn. He is survived by his widow Mrs Vera Counts Moye.

Mrs Queen Moye, 90 Dies Here Thursday After a Long Illness - Mrs Queen Victoria Moye, 90, died last Thursday afternoon at her home on McGoodwin Avenue following a long illness.  Funeral services were held at Booker Funeral Home, Saturday, September 30.  Burial was at McKendree Chapel Cemetery.  Survivors include on son Herman Moye, of Franklin, two daughters, Mrs Lonnie Durham and Mrs Charley Harris, both of Franklin.

James Martin Cook of­ficiating. Burial was in the Sulphur Springs Cemetery. A native of Winchester, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late John Clement and Narsissie Count. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Aileen Cole and Mrs. Leona Cole, both of Winchester, Tenn and several nieces and nephews.
